The Da Vinci Surgical Robot

(1/1)

GM:
We have a local hospital that is using the Da Vinci Surgical Robot for a prostate procedure.  I wonder how it would do on AN's?

Hi Gary,
I have been wondering when robotic surgery may be used for neurosurgery.  The part I found interesting is that the robotic assist helps the surgeons to make very fine adjustments, cuts, etc.  It does this, for example,  by requiring the surgeon to move the controls, say, 5 cm and the robot would move the scalpal 1 cm.  I can see where this could be very useful for very exacting surgery, like neurosurgery, where small movements could potentially injur important brain and nerve structures.
Regards,
 Rob
