Blurring eyes
« on: January 05, 2023, 02:55:58 am »
4 years post CK and now blurring eyes- both opthalmologist and optometrist say its not my eyesight - so my fear is its radiation damage or the AN and this is a neuro issue. Does anyone else have this?

mwatto,
I have noticed my eyesight is blurry and in quick time.  I however notice reading glasses are my friend.  However, eye doc says everything looks okay and nothing out of the ordinary.

But...I have asked the same question with no real answer!  I am glad I am not the only one with the concern, but I too would like the answer to what is going on.  I put mine to getting old eyes....!

Let me know if you get anything else from docs.

Will do GBLY yes I have seen a few people now and glasses (new script) helps- however told over and over my eyes are fine. I wonder if melatonin causing the blurring- been on a few years. In any event nothing much helps...working on dry eye. Its like insomnia -fragmented sleep woken a few times still 4 years now with stabbing ear pain. Nobody can advise GP says take Amitryptaline- me no thanks. Due for annual MRI soon...

I have been doing zzquil lately, maybe that is the case.  I too have insomnia and not happy about it.  hahaha.

I too have MRI next Tuesday so really nervous and hopefully I get the clean bill of health.  Will keep you all posted.  Either way I guess the adventure continues.

Good luck to you as well.

Hi GBLY hope the MRI went fine! This blurring is getting me down. Optometrist says he thinks not my vision and opthalmologist says all is fine. I do think its neuro now but what to do! Have you had any more insights- antihistamine drops (Zoptic) helps somewhat.

Hi GBLY about to have my next MRI how did yours go? Also I am having excellent results with a ful spectrum CBD THC tincture - no pain since I have been on and sleeping better. This is not medical cannabis- which did not help me this is direct from grower.

Interestingly my return to this  forum from a long hiatus was a recent MRI to rule out anything major because I had 4 or 5 blurry vision episodes in the last few months.    Results of an eye exam and results of MRI show nothing of concern.    The consensus at this point is a dry eye issue.   Because the eyes are normally drier and somewhat irritated in the winter that some type of trigger event is excessively flooding the eyes with tears causing the blurriness.    Could be one thing or several I don’t know.    Possibly a food or drink or maybe a blip on a computer screen or over stimulation with a tv screen.    Right now I’m just using a high quality eye drop lubricant as was recommended and haven’t had any recent issues.

Hi Rupert yes re dry eyes - also mine has improved now- no more blurring - optometrist and opthalmologist said it was possibly neuro not vision though. What eye drops are you using? I am using Hylo Forte Plus and Tears Again - especially at computer. All I have at the moment is stabbing ear pain at night- having annual MRI in a weeks time.

Good evening all and sorry for not getting back right away.   I was traveling for work.

So I had great news for the MRI.  AN is 97% dead and 94% it will not come back.  I was thinking I was farther out on radiation, but doctor said not post 3 years until September.  So Dr. Blair wants me to come back one more time for annual, if all looks good then every two years. I am feeling very happy.

My eye is interesting still.  I need to get an appointment with the eye doctor so I can see if anything has changed.  I do realized I have dry eye on the radiation side, with the synkinesis that eye lid doesn't shut as tight as it use to.  So I think I also have some dry eye issues.  I broke out the restates again and that does seem to help, but the vision is not crisp and cloudy around the edges, just doesn't feel right....!

Any update for anyone else?

Hi GBLY well I dont have this anymore am happy to report. My optom did say I needed a prism in my new glasses to rest by brain (one eye close up after cataract op other one no op so sees long distance). This means I am not tired trying to synch vision. In any event he also talked about depth as important not just vision. He said AN causes some drying so the sleep mask helps and drops. I do not have blurring now.

I hesitate to share this- but a microdse (half to one mg diazepam) and magnesium helped me with deep nerve pain at AN site. I used with docs approval for 5 days. My eyes are fine now too. I understand all the issues re benzos but very short term and tiny dose worked maybe because muscle relaxant, anti inflammatory and to raise GABA (deficient after Covid). Slept deeply.

mwatto,
Interesting that the diazepam worked.  You give us hope.  I keep noticing the eye on the radiation side has issues and I need to get to the eye doctor.   Last time I went they passed that it all looked normal in there....!
Thank you and I might see what the doctors say.
