Dizzy after MRI?

(1/1)

notaclone13:
I noticed after my diagnostic MRI last January that I was somewhat dizzy for a few minutes after the test when I first sat up. I thought this was benign positional vertigo from lying flat for 45 minutes during the test. I find that lying flat makes me dizzy (I assume from the AN), so I have slept with my head somewhat elevated for years. After my 6 month MRI yesterday, I noticed the same thing. As they brought me out of the machine and sat me up I was quite dizzy and had to sit still for a minute to regain equilibrium. Even after a few minutes I was still somewhat dizzy and a bit shaky. I was curious to know if others felt dizzy after MRIs and was comforted to see that I am not alone. Feeling dizzy immediately after an MRI is rather common and the reason for this has been identified: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/09/22/mri-dizziness-vertigo_n_976281.html
Turns out that MRIs affect the balance center in the ear and even people without ANs tend to feel dizzy during or immediately after an MRI.  I found this quite interesting and wanted to share it with those of you who may be experiencing the same thing.

Thanks for the information notaclone. Very interesting.
