considering facial plastic surgery?
(1/1)
lynanewman:
I am 5 years post-op (2012) with modest facial paralysis. after surgery I spent considerable time with a facial therapist and did acupuncture. I went from looking like I was a model for Picasso to luckily having good symmetry and can do a closed smile. I did have twitching with eye and eye used to close at the same time as smiling. Therapy, acupuncture and botox did do a lot of help. the right side of my mouth is paralysed and consequently struggle with enunciating words and sometimes eating can be a challenge. I wonder whether I should consider facial plastic surgery? I live in Toronto (6 mos) and in Palm Springs (6 mos). A trip to L.A. is doable. I hear a bit about Dr. Azzizadeh but haven't heard results post op. thank you.

I had all of my "plastic surgeries" done by Dr. Manktelow at The University Health Network ( is that what the call the combined Toronto General and Toronto Western?, they weren't joined back then).
Ask your GP to whom you might get referred ( Dr. Manktelow apparently has retired) and go for a consult. See what they suggest but be prepared for the possibly of more than one surgery ( I had five or six, two of which were to achieve one thing ( done in two parts)).
