Don't take Cymbalta

(1/1)

lifeisgoodnow:
Just wanted to share, I was put on 40 mg of this drug/ My trigeminal neuralgia got much worse and now I am trying to get off it. Horrible withdrawals from what I have heard from others who also were trying to get off it.
Lesson learned. I am done with these drugs.

This is a good suggestion and I wish more doctors were aware of how hard it is to get off of Cymbalta before they go prescribing it. They think they're being responsible, not prescribing opioids, and they prescribe Cymbalta "because it's not addictive" however if you can't quit without massive and lasting withdrawal, how is that not considered addictive??

In fact, withdrawal from Cymbalta is so bad that:

* there's a website dedicated to it: https://www.cymbaltawithdrawal.com/
* there have been numerous lawsuits settled by the manufacturer: https://fedupwithfatigue.com/cymbaltas-withdrawal-symptoms-proh/
* here's a good post about weaning off of Cymbalta: https://www.painnewsnetwork.org/stories/2015/9/15/how-i-finally-took-myself-off-cymbalta
* another post on Vice about quitting: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/avyk7a/the-withdrawal-i-experienced-when-quitting-cymbalta-was-worse-than-my-depression-253
