Ear Plug for Tinnitus?
« on: August 08, 2016, 01:43:15 pm »
I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but I recently discovered a personal "solution" for tinnitus in loud environments.

I have normal hearing in one hear and a BAHA on my affected side. But for me, the louder the surroundings get, the louder my tinnitus gets until I can't hear a darn thing. At a recent Paul McCartney concert, I used an ear plug in my deaf ear (sounds silly I know), and the evening went pretty well. So for my high school reunion this weekend, where there were 150 people talking and a DJ playing very loudly, I did the same thing. It was still hard to hear conversation very well, but without the tinnitus trying to wash everything out, it was doable.

I don't know if anyone else is already doing this, but it's worth a try. I think the damaged nerve just gets more and more irritated with the loud noise, so this helps to keep it calm.
