Pain at site of radiotherapy- CK
« on: November 10, 2023, 08:10:21 pm »
Am almost 5 years post CK and all going well. However since CK I have had tenderness in that area, stabbing pains in night and I still cannot sleep on that side without pain. Have had MRIs and my AN is almost halved. My only symptom pre diagnosis was earache which went on for two years. Then the CK which really hasnt made any difference to pain in ear or deeper nerve pain that side. They looked at the trigeminal and seems ok. I am wondering if anyone else has this after radiation? Thinking its vascular and when I lie down it causes compression. I was told its TMJ so got a dental splint -but I still cannot lie on that side...the pain is like a nerve twinge (eye, ear, jaw, deep that side)- wakes me up. Otherwise i have no issues. Anyone else have this?

Hi Michele,

Glad to hear your going OK :"), sorry to hear that you have tenderness & stabbing pains at night. I also have tenderness on that side of my head (LHS) and feels worse when I'm over stressed; more like tension & tightness for me; but Ok enough when I sleep.
That stabbing pain sounds like maybe some kind of nerve pain;  I hope it eases for you over (some more) time.

my best,
Stella

Thanks Stella - hope all well with you too. It is odd...maybe some nerve damage there. Nothing on MRI. Could be the TMJ and my neck - very stiff and sore since Covid a few months now. Am see an osteopath this coming week - seen a neck and jaw physio and doing some exercises. Its only at night when I lie down. Maybe I just need to drink more prosecco hahah last night first time in over a year- and no pain!
