Baha went heywire?
« on: December 01, 2012, 10:40:18 pm »
Help,
I've only had my Cochlear Baha for about a year and half and today when I went to turn it on, it's all out of wack :(  Usually I just push the middle button to turn it on and then the far right button once to the second beep and I'm on my pre-programed setting.  Tonight when I tried to turn it on, it just squeals at me.  When I push the button on the right it just beeps once and I think it's just turning the volume up.  Does anyone know if I need to take it in to have the settings reset?  I couldn't find anything in my book that shows what happened or how to reset it.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Susan

Did the new battery help?

I thought the middle button was used to change the program - just a quick push, not the long one required to turn it off.  The left and right buttons are for volume down and volume up, if I recall correctly.  I don't have a Cochlear BAHA, but I did recently have one in my possession for a few weeks during a trial period.  What does the manual say about switching between programs?  Maybe you have it on a program that is not the one you are used to?

Best of luck.  One way or another, you'll get it sorted out, if you haven't already.

You should have a 2 year warranty.

If the problem still isn't resolved call Cochlear.  They will give you an order number and tell you where to ship it for repairs.  They will also pay postage (usually Fed Ex) round-trip.

Turnaround time on repairs is typically 5 business days.  In the meantime, if you find you just can't cope without your processor, check with your doc's office; some of them have loaners.

Just wondering if you ever got your BAHA fixed? I had a couple of issues with my BP100...the case cracked twice. I believe Cochlear changed their casting process, and that put an end to that problem. I had a problem with the seal that surrounds the little part that snaps onto the abutment, and they replaced that. All of this was under warranty. All you have to do is call Cochlear, and they will help you. They even pay the shipping.

My experience with Cochlear has been excellent. I talked to an audiologist about getting a Ponto Pro. She called a local Cochlear rep, and they both set up a free BAHA tune up. They both worked together to get all of my settings just right. I did not ask for them to do this. Just good PR. The Cochlear rep gave me her card, and told me to call her if I needed any more help.

Hope your experience was as good as mine.
