This Week 8/15/10 in the AN Calendar World
« on: August 16, 2010, 08:49:50 pm »
Suz (suz) had retrosigmoid surgery on 7/14.

Kathy (kathysjourney) also had retrosigmoid surgery, on 7/27.

Suz and Kathy thank both for the letting us know how you made out, and sharing your stories with us.  We are so glad that your surgeries went so well and that your facial, and auditory nerves are all intact and okay.  Congratulations as our new Posties.

LAST WEEK:

JO (tenai98) had her latest MRI on 8/9, and according to an 8/11 posting, the MRI showed some shrinkage.

Patrick (texsooner) had his second annual MRI on 8/10.  Patrick’s neurologist assured him that “there’s no evidence of re-growth”.

Tisha’s (Tisha) MRI  “Results in....Tumor size remains stable”.

Congratulations Jo, Patrick, and Tisha on the excellent MRI results.

THIS WEEK:

Tuesday 8/17 Jan (leapyrtwins) has an appointment to remove a screw from the AN surgery, that is interfering with the BAHA site.  Jan we hope that the removal goes off without a hitch, and that it is, as you’ve been told, a quick 30 minute event.

Also on Tuesday 8/17 Mickey (Mickey) has a date with the MRI machine, and meets with the Dr. on Friday.  Mickey we hope the results show no growth to allow your W&W status to continue, and that the Dr. has good news for you, and a “game plan”.

We hope everyone, on and off the recovery road, has a great week,

Rich & Scarlett
SML (Scarlett's) other half, she had - 1.5 cm x 2.5 cm Cystic AN - Right side

The procedure is supposed to last only 10 minutes and I've been told I can drive myself home - which is making me very happy.  Although my mom offered to chauffeur me, I'm having local anesthesia and would feel a little foolish at my age (49 next month) relying on a parent for a ride.

My doc said he can't guarantee that I'll get a small bandage, so I'm hoping what I get isn't too obnoxious  ::)

Best of luck in the tube of gloom, Mickey.  Hope the end result is more watching & waiting.

Thanks for the well wishes.  You, too, Phyl  :-*

"Surgery" completed roughly 2 1/2 hours ago.  Local anesthesia.  Short, fast, small bandage (yeah!!)

Even requested (and got) the screw the doc removed  ;D  It's TINY!!

Will post more details - and hopefully a picture of the screw - on my "Repairs x 2" thread later today.

Will also post somewhere a few interesting things I learned from my doc today.  One about the flap vs slit question for BAHA implants.  And one about a new permanent hearing aid he just learned how to implant.  Unfortunately we BAHA wearers aren't candidates; but it sounds great for those who wear conventional hearing aids.

Jan, Great to hear your procedure went well.  I can't wait to see the size of this screw, make sure you put it next to a dime or something so we can easily gauge its tiny size.
