NYC - DR PHILIP STIEG
« on: March 25, 2013, 02:00:54 pm »
I have been searching this site for NYC Dr Philip Stieg at Weill Cornell.  I am wondering why I have not found any recent posts on him.  The latest post is 2009.  Would anyone know why?  Can anyone share their experience with him?  I have only been able to connect with one person who used him, and their surgery was also quite a few years ago.
Dx 2.6 cm Nov 2012, 35% hearing loss.  Grew to 3.5 cm Oct 2013.  Pre-op total hearing loss, left side tongue numb.  Translab Nov 2013 House Clinic.  Post-op no permanent facial or other issues.  Tongue much improved.  Great result!!

Have heard the name on the Forum, but not too often.

Is it possible that he's retired?

There are a lot of great AN docs in the NYC area - Selesnick, Roland, Golfinos, etc., - you might want to consult with one of them.

Jan
Retrosig 5/31/07 Drs. Battista & Kazan (Hinsdale, Illinois)
Left AN 3.0 cm (1.5 cm @ diagnosis 6 wks prior) SSD. BAHA implant 3/4/08 (Dr. Battista) Divino 6/4/08  BP100 4/2010 BAHA 5 8/2015

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

Hi,
I know of one person who had surgery with Dr. Steig and Dr. Selesnick a few years ago.  Within our local group, I can't think of anyone who has had surgery with him recently.

Apparently Selesnick also works with Dr Gutin at Sloan Kettering.  Maybe he is referring alot of patients there, for some reason.

I have heard many good things about Dr. Gutin and Memorial Sloan Kettering is a great hospital.  For those with appetites post treatment, the food is said to be very good.

Selesnick the ear guy works with both neurosurgeon Stieg and his own hospital Weill Cornell, and also neurosurgeon Gutin at Sloan.  I wonder why he splits it like that?

That would be a good question to ask Selesnick.   Ken saw Gutin first, who then referred him to consult with Selesnick.
