Title: When is the new Stanford study to be published on CK?
Post by: Tisha on June 23, 2009, 11:53:21 am
Does anyone know if the new study is out yet?  I suppose I could shoot an e-mail to Dr. Chang's nurse, but I thought someone might know before I bothered them.

Thanks

Hi Tisha,

I just did a quick search in the Medline, and  I didn't see anything recent, other than their 2005 study. They just published a study on trigeminal schwannomas. Keep in mind that it can take some time from submission to publication, so they may have already submitted it. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks for checking Marianna.  I know that they mentioned the study when I was out there, but I was so full of anxiety I didn't even think to ask.  That wasn't at the forefront of my attention that week.

Hi everyone;

I corresponded with Dr. Chang last week and asked about this new data. He said they had not yet submitted it for publication but that the results are the same as the 2005 study. He said in an email, "The newer data confirms the 2005 publication results.  There was no change either up or down in the hearing preservation numbers, tumor control rate, etc."

Hope this helps,
Amy

That is encouraging.  I will be speaking with him  later this week when he reviews my 6 month MRI.  I'll try to remember to ask this question, too.
