Title: Need your support!
Post by: Captain Deb on March 22, 2009, 09:11:58 am
Hi family and crew,
Well, your dear Captain had a real un-fun day on Friday--I got to spend 14 hours in the emergencey room of my local hospital. Thursday night after dinner I started having pain in my right side and by 5 AM it was so bad Dr Love bundled me into the car and drove me to sickbay. After 4 shots of morphine and endless hours of being poked, prodded, ultrasounded, and CT scanned, the doc came in and told me that I have 2 masses, one on my left ovary, and one in between my liver and my diaphragm. No wonder it hurts to breathe! The good news is that they look like they are cysts and are probably benign if they are cysts. The one on my liver is fluid filled and  inflammed and is giving me all the pain.  I was too doped up to ask for the radiologists report but will try to get ahold of it so I can be sure of the size of these things.

They sent me home with pain meds and anti-inflammatories and told me they would contact my gastro-enterologist so he could do a needle biopsy on the one that is causing all the pain. As of now I don't know if I'm going to have to have surgery or what is going to happen. This thing hasn't stopped hurting so my guess is probably yes.  Which is OK since I am one tough cookie and made it through AN surgery, this should be a piece of cake, but still, no fun at all. So far no migraine from the stress of all this........

Anyhow just thought I'd let you know what was going on and to ask for your support as I'm a little apprehensive of getting a big needle stick in me--I hope they knock me out!

So that's the news from the Sea of Wobegone! AAAARRRRR!!!!

Capt Deb

Hello Capt Deb.

The wonderful thing about prayers is that they are in endless supply!  I am very sorry that life has dealt you yet another lousy hand, but you can be absolutely sure that we are all here behind you offering our full support!  You have lifted the spirits of so many here, and we are only too glad to return the favor!

Thoughts and prayers heading your way from me and my family,

Ernie

Arrrgh!  If it is anything like a kidney stone, I feel your pain!

If  they don't knock you out for the big needle in the stomach, maybe you will pass out at the sight of it. One way or another, you will get through it.

Sorry to hear it, hope it gets dealt with soon.

Enjoy the pain meds as long as they are doing their job! I know how painful cysts can be. I hope your procedures are quick, easy, and painless.  You deserve a quick recovery. Our thoughts are with you.

So sorry, Capt!  How about some valium for the biopsy???  Don't think they normally knock you out for those :-[  Hope you get answers and relief from the pain soon!  And, we'll hope the migraines stay away for you also!

Will be thinking of you,

Cindy

Well, if they don't offer to knock you out for the procedure, bring a back up supply of good rum!  Enough of that should do the trick!   ;)

I hope all goes well, the pain stays gone for good and this is just one more little adventure along this journey!  Quit having so many adventures!

Hi Dapt. Deb -

I hope everything turns out okay and the masses are just cysts.  Sounds very painful so I hope they sent you home with something to manage the pain.  Let us know how you are and what the tests show.

Best wishes,
Wendy

Capt Deb~
You will be in my prayers!  DEMAND something to take the edge off - I hate to say, but the last biopsyI had was FAR worse than the actual surgery.  I do think most of it was the jerk of a doc doing it but I will always ask for something from now on - & I NEVER take pain medicine!!

Your in my thoughts,

Captain Deb ~

I'm so sorry to learn of this unpleasant, wholly unwanted event in your adventurous life.

FWIW: I underwent a liver biopsy just before my AN surgery almost 3 years ago.  They do a CT scan to locate the 'mass' and use Lidocaine to numb the site of the needle injection.  I have to be honest with my captain and tell you the needle was huge!  The good news is that the Lidocaine worked like a charm and all I felt was a little, weird 'jolt', deep in my gut, probably like a baby kicking in the womb (but how would I know that for certain?)  The procedure wasn't very painful, but did take a good 30 minutes to complete.  They were checking a liver 'mass' found during a routine pre-op CT scan .  Much later, my wife confided to me that the doctors involved all thought it was cancer but God smiled on me and it turned out to be a relatively harmless hemangioma that was asymptomatic and needed no treatment.  I trust your biopsy will return a similar diagnosis.  Please let us know as soon as you can.  Thanks.

Jim

Well, boogers, Captain Deb. Hope you are back to par in no time at all.

BTW, my kids' school is doing Treasure Island for their drama production this year. We have tons of pirate-y props to lend. I've done the program and PR for the last ten years or so and think this one should be a lot of fun.

Take care and God bless.

Bummer.  Good thing you're one tough cookie with the attitude to get through this and the support group to provide just the right buoyancy to keep you afloat.

Lots of love and support coming from the Great White North.  Mind you it isn't white in Southern Ontario.  You just tell those Doc's in the sick bay, they better fix you up and soon because we have some sailing to do.  There will be mutiny on the ship if they don't get you in "ship shape!"  ;)

Well, mateys, I've spoken to the biopsy doc and he can't squeeze me in till Thursday afternoon.  The anti-inflammatories have worked but have really done a number on my tummy and I had to quit taking them so we"ll see if the sucker flares up again. Jeez,  stuff doesn't move this slow on "Gray's Anatomy" or "ER"!  This thing hurts! The ER doc only gave me enough pain meds (vicodin) through today but luckily I have extra stuff for when I get headaches.

The Emergency Room experience wasn't really all that bad.  They built a really nice new ER since since I used to go there on a regular basis for my migraines. I had a private room with a TV and watched a little March Madness through my morphine fog.  I also had a hunky boy nurse named Bill who had cute muscles and a ponytail and we discussed the politics and the sorry state of the US healthcare system.  Every time he gave me a shot he had to ask if I was allergic to anything and I kept answering "housework", "mean people", "cold weather", "corporate greed," and "Republicans" (no offense to anyone). Yessir, Nurse Bill was the BEST!!!!  If this thing flares up again I may have to go back there!!!

So right now I'm in a holding pattern and it hurts everytime I move so I'm just being a couch potato and catching up on "Flight of the Conchords", my fave HBO series.

Thanks for all your well wishes--they are all soooooooo appreciated!!  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* I love you guys!!

Hugs,

Well, you should have gone to House.  Not the one in LA, but the one on Fox!  Dr. Gregory House would have done 6 expensive tests on you before 9 a.m.!  You two could have cryptic banter and then he and his trusty team would have had you split 6 ways to Sunday, took out any and all offending matter and some maybe you needed to keep (but that's another storyline)  and out the door mighty durn quick.  Too bad, real life aint' quite that way.

Hang in there kiddo,

Ok, if it hurts to move - don't move!  Teach Sadie to wait on you while you park yourself on the couch.

So, are you sure Nurse Bill was really a cute boy with big muscles - or was that just what he looked like after the morphine kicked in?  Could have actually been Nurse Ratchet.

I'm sure Dr. House would have fixed you up just like Sue suggested, but I think I'd rather go have Dr. McDreamy hovering over me!   ;)

Hang in there - Thursday's comin'!

Nurse Bill McDreamy was indeed a cutie and not a nurse Ratched! I had him all to myself the whole day.  It is my karma to get all the cute guys--just look at Dr Love, who had the good sense to marry me.  At House I had the cutest doc, too--Dr Rick Friedman!  Phyll gets the cheeky ones, I get the cute ones. I'm afraid my scrawny doodle of a jolly roger can't hold a candle to that fine piece of embroidery. I suppose I will send the hat to Deb anyway; maybe she will avoid putting them side by side.  :-[

I've given my homeport address to Anissa and Steve--thank you both so much for being so supportive and thoughtful and I'm not even having an AN issue! Wow!

I see the tummy doc at 3:30 today.  The pain in my side has subsided a bit but is still twingy and it hurts to move and I can't take a deep breath without it stabbing me.  Maybe it's an old cutlass wound acting up! Arrr! All that pillagin' and plunderin' come back to haunt me.

Bad news is all these med bills may keep me from going to Chicago--depends on if I can crank out a few paintings to sell and get 'em sold--have a large 6' one on the easel upstairs 80% finished.  They take me soooooo long to finish these days due to the headaches and medication side-effects and now this snafu.

OK, maties, here's the scuttlebutt on my abdominal invaders!  The tummy doc needs to speak to the radiologist to see if it's a simple or complex cyst but the radiologist had left for the day--go figger.  If it's complex it will probably have to come out.  About the one on the old ovary--he called my gynodoc who ordered an MRI of the pelvis to take a better peek at it and see if that one needs to come out.  Looks like I may be getting a twofer! So tomorrow the tummydocs office will be calling in to the Tube O' Gloom at the local hospital to set an appointment to zap my middle with contrast and without.  Yahoo!  I asked if I get a discount if they would do my noggin at the same time since I'm about due for one o' them pretty soon. She said probably not.  I'm getting referred down to Wake Forest University Med Center in Winston-Salem, about a 2 hr drive.  The doc there is a liver surgeon. Now I never heard of anyone calling himself a liver surgeon, but that's what the tummydoc called him!

So that's the news. No biopsy yet, still in holding pattern.

I had an MRI of the pelvis yesterday for ovary cyst--funny that the doc didn't order one on the liver--that one puzzled the MRI technician, too so she called over to the gastro-enterologist but he was in a "proceedure" and couldn't be disturbed so I may have to back there.  They happened to have Jimmy Buffett music in the headphones which I got to enjoy.  I pretended I was lying on the beach!  Still don't know anything--will call the tummydoc tomorrow.

That's the news--still in holding pattern

Heard from my gynocologist today and they want to lapariscope (sp?) the cyst on my ovary.  Sounds like I am going to get holes poked in me--it is inevitable. Still waiting on the radiologists opinion of the liver cyst--been over a week now since I saw the tummydoc who said he needed to talk to the radiologist to see if I have a simple or complex cyst.  I vote for simple since they may just leave the sucker alone to see if it will drain by itslf before they go a'slicin' and dicin'.

That's the update for now--

Darn, Capt Deb. Sorry about the hole poking that will be commencing.  >:(  Just how much "fun" can one person have after an ER trip? Hope there isn't MUCH poking they have to do, and that the other doc will get back with you soon!

Hey there, Capn' Deb!

This hurry up and wait to fiind out what needs to be done is horrible!!!  But...I've had 2 laparascopic procedures for a pesky ovary and they were a breeze!  The worst part was the gas afterwards, because they kinda blow you up like a basketball so they can do what they need to do.  I'll bet you'll do great!!!!  Hope they figure out the rest real soon.

I'm thinking of you!!!

Hey Deb,
Just tapped into this, being back on the forum and all due to Anissa being here at me home hospital hanging out with my ENT for 11 hours.....gesh!! she's trying to steal me bf doc.  LOL...anyghoo,  really sorry to hear of all the pain and problems.  I had an ovarian cyst explodeee years ago,  no fun, let them do the lap,  you don't want it to get big and explode, trust me on this.  I've had several of the lap suregeries,  through the belly button, uncomfortable for a few days but not too bad..   Crossing everything and saying a prayer for good news on the liver invader.  I just ook another balance related fall and wrenched my knee....damn...seems like if it's not one thing, it's another.  hang in there.

take care

Well, crew, progress is slowly being made with regard to a diagnosis and treatment plan fer me insides.  I saw the "lady doc" on Monday and he says I not only have an ovarian cyst but that I have fibroids, too, which he says he doesn't like to see in a post-menopausal woman.  Then he took blood for a test for ovarian cancer which he says he does not think I have, but he just wants to rule it out.  He even mentioned the fact that I may need to have a hysterectomy.  As far as the liver cyst, which is still twinging, I have an appointment on Monday at the hospital to have it aspirated and biopsied which I guess means they will be poking a big needle into my gut.  Yuck!  I just wish this whole thing was over and not dragging out the way it is.  This is getting stressful and depressing! That and I had a massive migraine on Saturday when I was supposed to be having a hot date with Dr Love.

Thank you Donnalynn for your kind and comforting words and to everyone else for your continued moral support.  You have no idea how much it means to me when I read your posts.

Hugs,

Capt Deb

Cap't Deb, I hope things move faster in the medical department.  But look at it this way, it'll be faster than when you were trying for SSD!  I had a hysterectomy because of fast growing fibroids back when I was a mere lass of 38, or thereabouts.  That was when I was pregnant for the last time, and I lost the baby early because of them, and then the hormones put the darn fibroids into high gear and they had to come out or I was gonna look like I swallowed a watermelon or two.  Yuck, is right!  I'm so sorry you have to do all this now.  Crikey.  Some of us deserves a freakin' break around here!!  But the good news is, if you get all of that stuff cleaned out of ya, you don't ever have to worry about ovarian cancer -- EVER!  I do, as they left one ovary in place and the poor girl just worked her little heart out, but she's about dead of old age now, poor dear.  Anyway, huggles to you and a kiss on the forehead.   :-*

Hey, Capt!

I went through a similar "female" thing last year (shortly after my AN diagnosis), did end up having to have some surgery, but turned out not to be cancer.  I will certainly hope that yours turns out to be nothing serious as well.  You are so strong, but I know it is very hard waiting and wondering what may be going on.

Sorry one of the migraine monsters messed up your date!  Wish those would go away for you also.  I have been very, very fortunate not to have had one in quite a few months.

Do hang in there!!!

Hey Capt. Deb!  How are you today?  I am sending some thoughts and prayers your way, and brought back a pocket full of tropical breezes from Tortola to soothe your tired and aching soul....!!! Poof - here they come!   ;) --
I am so sorry you are going thru this now, but i can sympathize - went to gyn office the other day on 'emergency' visit myself, and now probably back for some lady 'day surgery' at end of month - yuk.  But been there, done that, and not so bad overall.

Wake Forest - i am sure you will like it there.  My first born had to be hospitalized at 2 weeks old, and they took very good care of her.
(She is a feisty 24 year old now!)

I will be thinkin' of you matey - hang tough!
All my best to you.
Sincerely,

Hey Capt. Deb - so sorry about the headache - yucky yucky yucky!
I will be thinking of you on Tuesday.
When i was pregnant with #2, i was considered high risk, so the doc did Amnio test with a BIG needle where they draw out some fluid.
When my husband saw it he said, "Are you SURE you want to do this this test?"  Geez, Louise - of COURSE NOT!
I almost reached over to bop him on the head! - And to top it off, at that job, i didn't have any sick time, so i went back to WORK after that!
That's what you do when you are younger and foolish - now i know better, i think!!!!

So, no - big needles do not = fun.  Hope you 'sail' on thru and can get back to that windsurfing!  I love your animations!

Capt. Deb,  While you are resting and gearing up for Tuesday, go to this thread:
http://anausa.org/forum/index.php?topic=8049.90      - here are some pics of my family and of course, BVI!

The water was rough at The Baths, so they wouldn't give us snorkel gear.  That's ok, i did snorkel at Norman Island.
I did not get to do everything on this vacation - just an excuse to return there again REAL SOON!

We met some wonderful folks from Minnesota, New York and Indiana.  The parents from Indiana were meeting their son after his 'study abroad' Spring Semester, in BVI!  (Gee tough life these kids have, LOL!)  They spoke to our captain on the catamaran, and we pulled up along side their son's schooner at The Caves, Norman Island and started waving madly.  The rest of the students on the ship thought we were crazy!  It was great!

Hope you are back sailin' real soon.
Enjoy the pics!
Sue

I could just live in that big cave pool just off the beach.  The best way to get through the Baths is with a mask and snorkel and sneakers.  I know that place like the back of my hand and where all the cool cave pools are so next time you will just have to take me with you!

Here's a photo of the tire swing at Stanley's! Bet my liver would quit quiverin' if I could have me a swing on it!!!

I will think of you tomorrow, as i get my cholesterol checked and then sit down later that day to talk about my AN with my PCP.

Well, yesterday sucked!  I hate needles and have a low pain threshhold and when I asked about sedation, they said I would have to stay there for a couple hours longer and it seemed like they tried to talk me out of the sedation because they all wanted to go home! So I kinda faked a headache and nausea and got them to at least give me a shot of phenergan for nausea, which has a sedating effect.  When I talked to the pre-registration people on the phone the day before I even asked about sedation and she said there would be some.

So I get in the tube and he sticks the needle in my side--was in a very uncomfortable position wheich I had to hold--they kept sliding me in and out of the CT machine to see if the needle was in the cyst.  I guess the first poke missed so he had to come and do it again.  Well the second time he got the cyst but in the process punctured and partially collapsed my lung and boy did that hurt.  They then put me on oxygen to see if they could re-inflate it and took me back to my room.  An hour and a half of that fun they wheeled me back to X-ray and said that the lung had re-inflated and I could go home.  I ended up being there for almost 7 hours for a 30 minute procedure.
They said if I started to have chest pains to come back into the emergency room.  I woke up in the middle of the night with chest pains--not very severe but definitely quite uncomfortable, so here I sit debating whether to call Dr Love at work to get him to take me back to the ER. Reminds me of my AN surgery when I came out of the hospital in worse shape than when I went in!

I'm going to give the chest pains another hour and if they don't abate, well back in I go I guess.  This just sucks.  Good news it there was no cancer in the fluid they drained, and the cyst was not attached to the liver, just hanging out between it and my diapragm.

So the fun ain't over yet!  Thanks for all your prayers, good thoughts and well wishes--I'll keep you posted.

Hi guys,

Well things have gone from bad to worse!  Just after my last post I started really having bad chest pains so I called Dr Love to come get me and take me to the hospital.By the time I got here I was in severe pain and they took an X-ray and sho' nuff, collapsed lung.  So they shot me full of drugs and had to put in a chest tube. I guess I will be here in the hospital for 3 to 5 days to get it to heal.  Lots of pain every time I move and they are keeping me pretty drugged up.  Not fun at all!

Thanks for your thoughts--will keep you updated via me trusted Blackberry.

Hugs to you all and thanks for being there.

Last night was really rough, by far worse than AN surgery pain-wise--I lost track of how many morphine shots I had. No sleep at all and every time I moved was like a lightning bolt in my chest. Good news is that the garden hose they inserted into my lung is working and the lung is re-inflating.  There's a chance I could go home tomorrow evening--they are to turn off the suction on the chest tube to see if the lung stays inflated or collapses again. What an ordeal for a simple outpatient procedure!

Hanging tough!

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes, folks.

Cap'n,
I've been away from this thread havin' a little procedure all mine own and whining about my recovery "issues" which include temporary facial paralysis, eye annoyances, constipation, and a steroid high that had me blastin' out of the canons above and below deck!
Man, do I feel like a big ol' baby now.
Geesh!  You are one tough cookie.  I just want to salute you in person one of these days in the not too distant future.

I, too, love those BVIs, Baths and all.  No place like it.  How 'bout our next convention moored off Cooper Island?

Love you,

Hi folks,
Home has been great although I'm still having a bit of pain from where the chest tube was, it has gotten lots better.  First day off percoset.  Unfortunately this ordeal ain't over as I talked to the gyno today and scheduled surgery on May 20 to have the other cyst, which is on my left ovary, removed.  I have to decide whether of not to have a hyssterectomy at the same time.  My cousin's husband is a retired gyno and I'll be consulting with him as well.  I'm not having any symptoms from the cyst or fibroids, so the hysterectomy is optional and will be done to prevent any problems down the road.

Thanks again for all your well wishes!

Capt Deb

The PBW is the name of our plunderin' pllagin' pirate ship that we cyber-sail over on the Good Morning thread.  It stands for Princess Batty Wench and you can read all about her wacky adventures by reading through the Good Morning thread from the beginnin'. It is indeed a wild ride!

I have been having a rough time with pain from the chest tube surgery.  Docs gave me another 6 days of Percoset which I ran out of today. I feel like I've forgotten what not being in pain feels like. I hope this gets better soon as it is putting a real damper on my fun!

Hi guys!  I'm back!!!!
My pain is down to a dull roar and it doesn't hurt so bad to use the keyboard so I'm posting this.  It seems that the chest tube did some nerve damage on my left side--hence all the pain I've been in.  The surgeon put me on Lyrica which doesn't make me more poetic, but seems to be relieving some of this relentless pain I've been in.  I'm having my hysterectomy and ovary removal tomorrow at the friggin crack of dawn --whoopee!!!
Time to rock the pirate socks! Thanks for all your well wishes and support and I'll try to post soon after the surgery.

I've decided to go to the symposium and have a bit of fun with you AN Heads. Double whoopee!

See ya soon!

well, times have certainly changed!  :o  :o  Had her surgery 24 hrs ago and has been home since 11am EST today!   :o :)  Said she's in pain and crampy..... has 3 little stitches by her cute widdle belly button.  Yup, they used the Dyson vaccuum! ;)

She sounded ok, except for the pain in her voice. Says if she doesn't move around, she's ok.

told her everyone here sending wishes and she'll be back online before you can say

Deb .....

Even though I have not posted on this thread before, I have been following it with great interest.  I was so upset when I read that you were going through so many medical crises.  Now I am overjoyed that this "bump in the road" may be over and done with rather quickly!  Hurray.  (Although I know you are still hurting and I do not mean to minimize that!)

I will have to say I am a teensy bit envious because I had a hysterectomy done 25 years ago the old way and I was still hospitalized and in much pain and on Morphine 2 days out!!!

Rest well ..... give your body plenty of time to heal.

Hmmm.  Sounds like the good Captain had a laproscopic procedure - much better than the days of totally invasive adominal surgery for sure.  It's widely used for gynecological and gallbladder surgeries alike these days.  I had several laporoscopies back in the days when I was trying to get pregnant with my twins.

Here's hoping Deb's back on her feet in record time  ;D

Thanks for the update, Phyl.

JUST SPOKE TO CAPTN DEB... AGAIN.....

Well, our dear Captn had a bit of a setback over the weekend.  Some issues arose due to the surgical procedure and she ended up doing another 13 hrs in the emergency room.  She is back home and trying to rest. She said that today, she is a minute bit better, able to get out of bed and get over to the couch and back........ pain levels could be better and they've changed pain meds on her (I offered up mine... but have to check with my doc first :D )

So, she's hanging tough and hoping she comes back online soon.  While she's laid up, she's planning mischief and mayhem for the Symposium :o  *looks around to make sure no one from the ANA is looking over shoulder*  8)

I have a feeling she'll be back online soon.  She luffs us too much to stay away too long!

 Prayers are headed your way.
I've had 2 of them and have to agree with Jim.  Needle is big but you really dont feel a thing except a slight pinch when they take the biopsy.  You will probably have to stay still on your side for 1 - 2 hours when they are done.  That was probably the worst part.

Capt,
I haven't been following the forum regularly lately.  Sorry to hear about your travails, and hope you're finally on the mend.  Here's a diddy for ya'.

One day deb was paintin’ for some dough.
When up from the gut came a bubblin’ foe.
She visited the ER, and found a favorite nurse.
Her crew came a runnin’ with a shout and a curse.
She needs a new protective hex or inflection.
But what she got was more meds and resection.
Regaining her sea legs, and grumblin’ all the while.
Her crew really loves her, and her pirate style.
Looking forward to Chicago, we’re soon to set sail.
To party with the crew, “Who’s bringin’ bail?

Regards,
  Rob

JUST SPOKE TO DA CAPTN

well, what a difference a day (or 2) makes! She sounds terrific! No pain to her voice, although she says she now just has a wee bit of pain but MUCH more tolerable.  Said she was able to sleep on her side last night (a HUGE feet ;) for her) but she's doing great. Says she'll attempt to log on in the next day or 2.... so.... start swabbing the decks... hoist the sails.... pour the grog in celebration.... our Captn is being booted outta sick bay! :D

AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Ahoy ye scurvey scalawags and wicked wenches!!!!!!!!

I'm finally feeling good enuff to get to a 'puter!  It has been a rough road wiv two surgeries in 4 weeks.  Me female innards are all gone, never to plague me again and me lungs is healed up a bit more--had to go by ambulance 12 hrs back to the ER after they initially releasedme cuz I thought I were having another collapsed lung or a heart attack!!! Turns out I had pleurisy in me left lung this time.--Sooo painful and scarey it was. Very scarey.  But this here wench be a tough old scurvey sea captain and no wimp.

Now the med bills are a rolling in in scads--thank G-d I was able to get disability and Medicare and Eric was able to sell one of our rental units at a faily good profit this spring.  That punctured lung, which was punctured by a frigging doc cost $12,000, and that don't include the doc fees which were another 3,000- 4000!  Medicare picks up 90% or so.  I haven't been able to work for two months and if will be another few weeks till I get back in my studio.

Thank you for all your continuing support--I'm going online later today to make my airline reservations fer Chicago--I gotta go to this Symposium by hook or by crook!  Plus if I don't go Phyll will kick my ass.  I need a real life hug from her!!!  I can't wait to meet all of you scallywags and wenches and I hope yer a gettin all your pirate gear ready to wear to the Friday night party!!  The Saturday night one is more dressy and I don't want to look like too much of a nutcase.  I'll be in disguise as a normal person.

Thanks again for loving me when I felt so crappy--that is hard on one's psyche at times fer sure!!!

Anchors aweigh--there's seas to be sailed and tropical islands to explore! Love, love, love you guys!!!!

Hi C. Deb .... welcome back!

I often check out websites offered in a poster's signature .... it's fun and interesting.  On yours, I sought out your artwork and, after clicking several links on several links (including Hillbilly's), I saw your paintings.  Simply stated ..... terrific!

Keep up the good work!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Captain Deb!  You can't keep a good woman down! Welcome back!  Take care of yourself.  I won't be in Chicago this August....too much family stuff going on, but I'm planning to make it to the next one and I expect to see you there.

Much love and hugs,
Brendalu

PS  My pirate sox smell really bad and stand up by them selves....I guess it is safe to wash them now!

Ahoy Capt. Deb -

Glad to hear your feeling well better.  Sorry I won't be able to meet you in Chicago but the symposium isn't in the cards foir me this year.  Too much other stuff and a lack of funds.  I hope to make the next one.

Wishing you continued good healing,

Wendy

I'm happy for you too, Cap'n!

I would like to see the artwork as well. Tried to follow it from Greg's post, but couldn't get to the artwork part, where I could see it.

Hoping for your continued improvement.

Maybe this isn't any of my business, but since we haven't heard anything from Deb for about 10 days, I am taking the liberty of putting a link to her web site.  It's http://www.frappr.com/CaptDeb and if you click on More Photos, some of her pictures are at the end of that page ...... beautiful work, I might add!!!

Deb, I sure hope you have just been busy and/or resting like you should and that is why we have not heard from you .....

Thanks Clarice!  Very nice pics of paintings there.

Keri, here's how I found several diff paintings:  On the site Clarice pointed out, under Captain Deb's Interests is "Interests" on the left that contains 2 websites .... Deb's links there provide several more.

Captain Deb .... next time we visit friends in W. Jefferson, I'll seek out any galleries in Boone or Blowing Rock that might have your paintings.

Thanks ...... Greg

here is the dear Captn's painting that I own that hangs proudly in my living room.....

The captn will tell you that I had her on the phone when it arrived and all she heard was screams of being so overwhelmed and touched.......and tears of joy.  I was truly floored that I received this...

I am truly honoured to own this.......

This 'AN Community' has many members with a diverse array of talents and skills.  Deb is certainly one of those, as her artwork shows.  Although I wouldn't want anyone to have to deal with an acoustic neuroma and the problems it sometimes brings, as a part of this community, I appreciate her artistry, her sense of whimsy and her fortitude in the face of sometimes daunting obstacles in her life. A salute to the Captain!  :)

sheesh Jim... now we gonna need a hat pin to pop her ego so she'll be able to fit through a doorway!  ;)

(and yes, she is all that... all that you shared.  :) )
