Title: ANA Discussion Forum NE Brunch time! Maxwell's in Worcester Nov 9 10am

Hi all,

I just spoke with Jane (jcinma). She sends apologies for not being very visible lately as she has had an exceptionally hectic summer season. She shared with me that early November would be a terrific time that she could join in our brunch at Maxwell's. So, here we go folks....

Please advise if either dates works for you for you to attend:

Sunday, Nov 2
Sunday, Nov 9

Can you New England folks have a brunch down here for a change? We all know southerners make a very tasty (and fattening) brunch. It would be a nice change from your usual chowdah.

Not to hijack the thread...but brunch makes me think of fruit salad. I have this kicking fruit salad recipe from Cooking Light that is sweet with a kick at the end. It seemed like an unusual combination of ingredients (cayenne pepper, lemon, honey, mint in the syrup) but it works.

I'm trying to absent myself from the forums so I can write my chapter for Scott's AN book but I had to respond to this thread.

Right now, either November 2nd or 9th is O.K. but that could change in two months. In any case, unless something drastically urgent arises to stop me, I'm planning to go - so put me (and Tina) on the attendee list. I enjoyed the last brunch and so did Tina. I hope to have the opportunity to meet even more AN forum folks this time so we'll be there if it's humanly possible. See you in November! :)

I haven't seen Paul (Catania) - 'Crazy Cat' - post in some time. I hope he is O.K. We spent some time chatting at the last AN Brunch and I found him interesting. Not sure if Paul was similarly engrossed in my conversation. I hope I didn't scare him off the forums! :)

Will give him time to see if he logs on and pipes in about the brunch. I have a number for him... will try to touch base as well.

I'm all for name tags because I don't know the faces all that well and remembering the names of 15 to 20 different people is not realistic - for me, anyway.

There will be a bag for a place to keep all your papers in also. The name badge is worn around the neck on a chain or string type thing. I can't remember what it is unless I go dig one out. You can write then your forum name if need be yourself on it since some do not go by their real name.

I've warned them! :)

IMPORTANT UPDATE - CHANGE OF TIME

I spoke to Bill at Maxwell's and they are now booking the "Boardroom" for certain hours (ie: 10am, 12p, 2pm, etc). The time has been changed to 10am, not 11am. They do have a group coming in at 12pm, so we are scheduled for 10am.

If this is of inconvenience, please let me know asap.

Ok, all, we have broken records at Maxwell's for this brunch! :) I have phoned in the final headcount and everything all set. As many of you "veterans" know that have attended in the past, we have one large boardroom table that hold approx 20 people. Since we have broken that head count, please know that a few smaller (2 count) tables will also be set up against the walls to help accommodate everyone. Appreciate everyone's understanding about the smaller tables as this was the only way to keep the boardroom and... get everyone accommodated.

I've also left a message for my favorite "Brazilian Nut" that we are coming and since I didn't speak to him directly, hoping the apple dumplin's are good to go. I'm sure they are taking cover, esp. knowing I am coming! :)

So, final head count done. Yes, m'dear DonnaLynn and spouse Jim.... you are included in the "headcount" as well! :)

Just got the results from my latest MRI: I'm clean and good to go!! No regrowth!!

Also, and I think a number of people would be interested in hearing this: My MRSA is gone! My primary care doctor prescribed an antibiotic ointment called "Mupirocin" last June to be applied in each nostril with a Que-tip twice a day for two weeks. It worked!! I couldn't believe it.

When my doctor prescribed this treatment I was confused because I was under the impression that it couldn't be stopped so easilyÃ¢â‚¬â€and it was easy. Too easy. The only question is, "why the hell hadn't anyone done that for me in the three years since I had it?? What is wrong with these people?

So when he prescribed that to me I was somewhat incredulous and questioned him, "It will stop it?" (I couldn't believe that it would after everything I'd heard and read about MRSA) To which he just slowly nodded in the affirmative. I now trust this doctor more than I had when I first started seeing him.

Another thing: A friend of mine has an elderly father that had been hospitalized for months with multiple problems. While in the hospital, he contracted MRSA. This is a dangerous state of affairs, to be afflicted with MRSA while being elderly with a weakened immune system.

Weeks went by without anything being done in the way of "decolonizing" the bacteria. I duly reported my experience with the ointment that had been prescribed to me.

Evidently, someone took the advise that my friend had reported to the medical staff and began treating her father with it. A few Weeks later, she reported back to me that the MRSA was gone and thanked me!

Now, I said it before and I'll say it again, "Why did we have to tell the so-called professionals what drug to treat him with?"

I walked around with that bacteria for three years and risked exposing others to it when I could have been treated for it while still in the hospital when I first got it?

Well, all... feeling rather bloaty from all the food, but did want to preface with a big apology for such a short timeframe we had the room. As many know, we usually close the place after 2pm but due to other schedule conflicts for our room for today, I apologize if anyone felt rushed through brunch. Will work it with Bill so we don't run into this again.

As for Gil, my favorite Brazilian nut.... well, if I weren't married and he weren't married... well, then... we'd both be single! :) Once again, he outdid himself for us with some TRULY amazing apple dumplin's! I was able to sneak one out for the bloke and he'll enjoy later.

My goodness, we busted through the walls of the brunch! Standing room only was pretty much the theme... nothing like trying to find a seat! You all rawk and was thrilled that we had such a terrific turnout today!

I FINALLY got to meet the lamsue.... LisaP, you just rawk! Sabre, I am SO cheering you on and you are going to do fabulous this week! soulcleansing and rivergirl, what a truly wonderful honor to meet you both! Lots of new faces today... as well as many of the brunch vets!

Now, a speshal shout out to my ass't cruise director in crime, jcinma/Jane.... hon, you outdid yourself in bringing *coff* the theme to the brunch! Kudos to you hon and a BIG thank you to you and Andy!

Thank you so much for getting us all together and making us all 5lbs heavier. I was so excited to meet everyone....At my doctor's appt yesterday for my 3 mos MRI I told him how we all met. He was asking me all kinds of questions. He also said how amazed he is that An patient are getting more and more. He said he's very busy with a lot of An patients.
