Title: I've had right-sided AN. Now my daughter's eye twitches
Post by: kippy6 on January 06, 2008, 11:12:56 pm
I have had 1 AN on my right side. There is a spot on my left (just a few millimeters), and although the radiologist thought it looked like another AN, Dr. Brackmann says it is just a spot, and it is not an AN.  So I have not been diagnosed with NF2.

However, my 10 year old daughter has been complaining of a twitching eye. It seems to twitch more often now, weekly. At any rate, should I take her in to get evaluated?

I think your right to be concerned
and as ever an early check would seem prudent
However - all the issues you have had may have simply
given rise to a "nervous" reaction or simply, worry
I wouldnt be suprised if sleeping issues or food-off-days
happened in one so young
A check might put your mind at rest ?
Best Regards
Tony

Chances are rare to have 2 people in the same family diagnosed with an AN if there's no history of NF2, so it's possible it's something relatively simple and easy to fix.  Maybe she just needs glasses or something.  I would definitely take her to get it checked though, because no matter how simple the cause could be, I'm sure it's still annoying to have your eye twitching all the time.

Thanks guys. She may be a little nervous about getting these kind of symptoms since my AN surgery. It's hard to tell. She's also been complaining of her ear getting stopped up and not being to hear well on occasion. And then she pulls on it and it pops. It happens very infrequently. Last night, about an hour after she went to bed, she was crying about her ear because it felt stopped up, and it hurt. I gave her motrin. She never complained about it again, and this morning she said she felt great. I have never even discussed or described symptoms of a twitching eye or stopped up ear before, so it makes me think that she is telling the truth. (Mostly, I just had the ringing of the ear.)

I rarely discuss anything related to AN or NF-2 at home. On the rare occasion I do, it is in private w/my husband. I mainly just talk to all of you guys about it.

Kippy: My orginal neuro. told me any children or children of my two siblings should have screening MRI in the late teens as my tumor was not tipical of an.....much larger than they had seen in someone so young especially since I had sympatoms from my teens. To have one done would do her no harm and put your minds at ease, consult a pead. neuro.
(and yes my plan is to have my own two children screened in thier teens.....my siblings have not listened to the advise of my doctor).
