Title: Tinnitus in good ear
Post by: amymeri on December 08, 2006, 07:55:08 am
Does anyone have tinnitus in their good ear?  I just started noticing a little beeping sound (like pure tone audiometry) in  my good ear. I don't notice it unless I am awake early in the morning and all is quiet.  I never had it in my bad ear.  I have had my ears tested and the good ear is 100%.

Interestingly, my ENT asked me if I was having problems in my good ear a couple weeks ago but I was okay then.  My last MRI was August 29th and okay.

Yes, mine is now bouncing back and forth; good ear to bad ear but, in the good ear it only lasts a split second.  The bad ear, it goes on all the time.  (sterio)

Mine sounds like it is coming from the center of my head, it seems to have been set by an equalizer. My good ear (right side) is 100% hearing while my AN side is only at 30%, but I can tell no difference between where the sound is coming from.

Amy

I also have some tinnitus in my non-an side. It comes and goes and doesn't compare to the an side but just the same, it is there.

I guess what seems strange to me is that

1.  I never had it on my AN side prior or post surgery.  The AN was completely removed.
2.  I just developed it 8 months later and only on the good side, not the deaf side.

My secret worry is that I have a AN on the good side, but its doubtful since my MRI in August was okay.

Hi Amy:   I've had Tinnitus in my "good ear" for about five years.  The MRI I had five years ago didn't show an AN; however, AN was dx. in the other ear this past year.  I was told the Tinnitus is not in one ear or the other but rather a perception of sound from the brain.  I am now experiencing "T" in both ears.  Hope this information helps in some way.

Oh my God !!  I can't imagine getting the tinnitus on the good side.
If that happens to me, just shoot me !! (okay, all you guys who went to get your guns just sit back down !!, I was kidding).

Hope it isn't as loud for you guys as it gets for me.    One sided tinnitus is enough !!!!     Nancy

I have tinnitus in stereo.  It's the only thing I hear in stereo  LOL.  My left ear (an side) is louder and I typically only  notice the t in the right ear at bedtime, quiet house or when I'm really stressed or tired.  usually the left ear drowns the right one out.  I know two ENT's were surprised I developed it in my right ear but the surgeon wasn't.  I was told it's more than likely a result of them messing with my skull.  there are days I'd be racing you for that gun nancyann!
