Title: Post Op Facial Pain
Post by: Amandasalazar on October 03, 2021, 06:00:28 pm
Hello, I had surgery June 25 so I am a little over 3mo post op. Gross total resection. However, just this weekend I started feeling facial and jaw pain. Scares me that whatever they peeled off the facial nerve wasn’t all of it and is growing back. Anyone else experience this or have this happen to them?

I didn't have that exactly, but I do know that the nerves grow back slowly. Often over a course of months and even years.  So, new sensations are not necessarily due to tumor recurrence.  They could be from nerve recovery/growth.

In the big picture, I really struggled with anxiety about recurrence.  Very hard to get over.  Easier said than done, but try not to assume the worst!   I wish you peace and good luck.

You're right, I think, that the worry never fully goes away.  But it does get better. Hang in there!
