Title: Left side translab one week post op
Post by: Pbellovin on June 30, 2019, 11:55:52 pm
Has anyone experienced soreness pain and “herpes” like sores on tongue, gums, roof of mouth and lips that makes eating very painful and opening jaw to chew very difficult.   There is almost like a fuzziness inside my mouth on the left side and certain foods like citrus, soda, beef, sweets, salt, well almost anything is nearly impossible to eat. I’m wondering if this occurrence will go away or is this the new norm? I am one week post translab surgery

Hi - I had a mild version of that prior to surgery, and it was noticeably worse post translab for a few days.  Dry mouth &/or numbness in the side of your face & tongue could be causing it.  I also think returning sensation to the facial nerve can feel like a lot of different sensations - tickle, pricks, hot & cold - just weird.  I noticed too that I had a worsening of soreness in one side of my throat + difficulty swallowing dry foods like cornbread for a while post-op, but that has gone again (I'm 2 1/2 weeks post translab)

I'm sure its too early to know if this is a new normal for you - have your symptoms changed any?

i had a thousand cold sores after surgery. They went away, but it really hurt until then.

(exaggerating the number)
