Title: Shunt Before Neuroma Surgery

How common is it to have a shunt placed before getting the neuroma removed?

My father was diagnosed with hydrocephalus right after the acoustic neuroma was detected in the MRI. The neurosurgeon recommended to get a shunt 4 weeks prior to a neuroma. Has anyone on here had this done?
