Title: Watch and wait
Post by: lindaholland on December 06, 2017, 12:03:23 pm
I have been experiencing more loss of hearing in my left ear and also feeling a throbbing pain.  Has anyone ever experience pain in their ear.  I feel like I am getting more forgetful too.  I called my ENT to get an appointment next month.  I was feeling fine and was not due to see my ENT till next year in July.  My tumor is small so now wondering whats going on.

Weather can sometimes make my ear feel (hurt) different.

Is your ENT treating/not treating your AN? Do you have a specialist to contact to follow up? If you had a recent MRI, or need one, maybe this would prompt your doc to schedule.

Good luck!!

Hi Linda,

I very new to this myself but I seem to have a more painful an than most form what I'm told. I agree with Maria that weather can play a role, for me it's barometric pressure. Any additional pressure whether it's external like the weather or internal to the head (like congestion) can cause my ear to hurt. For me it usually feels like a bee sting in my ear. Then there is the kind of pain behind the mastoid bone which I think is much more difficult to figure out.

It makes sense to see your treating doctor and consult with your primary care physician too.

Wishing you well!
Janek

I also notice that weather and barometric pressure can affect my affected ear. Last week, when it was 67 degrees and sunny I had little to no tinnitus and felt almost normal. Next day it rained and the temperature dropped 20 degrees and the pressure in my ear was awful and annoying tinittus returned. I also notice caffeine and alcohol affect the tinittus. I now avoid both. I switched to decaf coffee, but that is not exactly caffeine free, just contains much less.
