In having my neuroma removed, the balance nerve had to be severed. I have lost complete hearing in my left ear post surgery and am still having issues with constant dizziness. I have been told by Neurosurgeon and Physical Therapist both that this will continue to subside with time as the right side begins to compensate. I am a line-haul driver and am wondering if anyone who has had this surgery and lost hearing that were also drivers, were able to pass the DOT physical needed before returning to work? Thank you!

Sorry, I can't help you with the long-haul driving question, but just wanted to note that lots of us have our balance nerve severed during surgery. The body does compensate for the "loss" of the nerve over time. It can take some time; everyone's rate of recovery is different. Most docs will offer to send you to PT (physical therapy) if the issues persist. You might want to talk to your doc about that.
As far as the hearing goes, I opted for a Cochlear BAHA (bone-anchored hearing aid) post op and it's been a Godsend for me. It's not like my "normal" hearing was, but in my opinion it's the next best thing.
