Title: Possible MS?
Post by: LizH on October 31, 2006, 08:37:20 am
Dear All,

I have white lesions on my MRI scans though they have not changed since the 2003 MRI scans when they were first discovered. I have been told that they are the kind that people with MS have. The 2 Neurologists that I have seen have ruled out MS for me after vision tests. So why am I having these walking problems that started recently? Sometimes I can't even move my body. I am in no pain but the muscles in my rght leg are weak and physical therapy exercises have not helped. I have known about my AN for 9 years now. I was treated in May 2001. I had no problem walking (well some balance problems) until about a year ago and gradually became worse. What can it be? The Neurologists have not been able to tell me. I have an appointment to see an MS specialist in a couple of weeks.  We will see what he will say. Thank you for your time. You all have a good day! Cheers! Effiya.

effiya,

Did they rule out regrowth of the AN?? Where are the lesions? Could it be scar tissue from your previous AN treatment, is that why the Docs rule out the MS??   I'll include iyou in my prayers. Sure hope it's not MS or another AN. hang in there.

Hi Patti,

Thanks for your response. No, there is no regrowth of the tumour. The Neurologists say they think that the tumor is pressing on the brain stem that may be why I am having all these walking problems.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your response. I agree with what you said. I think the tumor pressing on my brain stem has already made considerable damage to my nerves all these years. I am going to see the MS specialist in order for him to rule out MS or not. Oh I want my walking to improve so  badly. It has affected  my quality of life. I have no problem finding work but I can't keep it. They get rid of me after just 1 week and give all kinds of reasons unrelated to me or job description. Effiya

Boy-talk about a coicidence. You may have seen my earlier post and all my concerns about numbness in feet. Ruled out being a diabetic. This morn it is going up my entire right leg. I also thought of MS but did not show lesions on the most recent MRI scan. September 28th of this year. My wife is now making an apoinment with back specialist after I was told I have Spinal Stenosis. MIght want to have an MRI of your spine. I had FSR for a 2.7 CM this past summer. Had no problems like this before. Just showed up in the last month etc. Also MRI showed no edema of the Brain Stem-Tumor showed some signs of dying. Not definite-just signs. I am with you-this is frustrating. I am sitting at my desk typing this with my shoe off on the right foot and it is going numb all the way up my leg. Let you know what I find out with my back. Keep us posted in what you find._Ron

Hi Ron,

Yes, I  have had an MRI of my spine and it was good. In fact, the Neurologist even said I am a mystery after that ! I don't have any numbness though, well not yet! I keep doing my physical therapy exercises religiously even though I don't think that they are helping. Maybe it takes longer, like months. I have been doing this for 3 months now. Thanks.  Effiyah.
