Title: Teflon Brain
Post by: Mimispree on February 20, 2015, 03:30:35 pm
Does anyone else have serious Teflon brain?  You know where nothing sticks?  I'm having quite a time with it and an inability to connect the dots.  I can't I chalk it up to still being very dizzy.  My insurance authorized some serious balance testing so I'm really hoping the specific therapies that come out of it will be helpful.

On Wednesday on my backdoor concrete steps, I turned around on the top step to go back inside and I fell backwards.  It felt as if I was flung backwards.  I'm really lucky I had the presence of mind to lift my head up so I didn't crack it open.  Fortunately I only have a few sore spots and didn't get really hurt but it really shook me up for several hours. It was at night, so I know the dart intensifies my dizziness.

I am just wondering if anyone else had such severe dizziness and Teflon brain?

Looks like you are 7 months post op and when I was 3 to 10 months post Gamma Knife I had similar issues.  I wouldn't say I had Teflon brain exactly, but I sure had fuzzy brain days where I really had to concentrate at work.  I felt like some things just took way to long to accomplish and sort out, but thankfully it wasn't every day.  During the same time period my balance was horrid.  I frequently felt like I was going to fall backwards when I would start to go up a staircase and I never went near stairs without holding onto a railing.  If I bent forward to the floor to pick something up, I would feel like I was going to topple over.  One year of vestibular rehab and time for the AN swelling to reside and all those issues are now in the past.   Perhaps you just need some rehab, more time to recover....and maybe a really good flashlight for walking in the dark!  :D

I am pre-treatment for microsurgery to remove a small AN. I have "teflon brain" before surgery. I can only imagine after surgery.
