Hi all,
I am just trying to find out- are you required to have an MRI or CT scan before getting a Baha?
thanks

thanks!   so, i guess i actually have 2 questions- the mri/ct might not be necessary since they know where they are putting the implant correct?  i mean its not like the an surgery where it needs to be so precise right?

I, also, did not have an MRI for the abutment placement.  Your doctor can determine the best, most solid place, for it to be placed without an MRI.  If you wear glasses or a helmet or anything else on a regular basis that could be a factor for placement, be sure to tell your doctor so he/she is aware of it.

In my case I have titanium mesh from two surgeries (retrosigmoid and translab) so my abutment is a bit higher and farther back on my head than some people, but it works well and I have had zero problems with it (21 months later).  Love my Oticon Medical Ponto Pro!!

No MRI in my case either.

My BAHA site is directly over my AN surgery site (I had retrosigmoid) so it's basically behind my left ear.  Docs typically look for good bone mass when deciding where to place the implant.

I opted for a Cochlear processor - am currently wearing a BP100 - and I couldn't be happier.

BAHA's ROCK!!!!
