Title: stem cell research

Just read an article about stem cell research restoring hearing.  Scientists killed nerve cells that transmit information from the ear to the brain in gerbils.  Stem cells were used to make immature nerve cells.  They were then transplanted into the deaf ear of the gerbils with very good results.  Although it will be years before humans might benefit, it's something to look forward to maybe?

Definitely something to look forward to; especially if it would restore "normal" hearing.

As much as I love my BAHA, it doesn't restore the hearing I lost, nor does it make me hear "normally".

IMO, it's the best thing out there for someone who is SSD like me, and it's made a huge difference in my life, but it wasn't the hearing I was born with.
