Title: 10 years post surgery formerly dry eye is watering alot
Post by: Cynaburst on June 29, 2012, 05:26:53 pm
Just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this.  I am hoping that this is a positive thing.  I had a 3+ cm. AN removed from my right side via retrosigmoid approach just over 10 years ago.  My right eye didn't close immediately after surgery, but over time, it started to close and was basically normal except that when I cried, it was only out of the left eye while the right eye was somewhat dry.  In the last few weeks, I have noticed that my right eye now waters alot and uncontrollably.  I am thinking that maybe my nerve has regenerated, and it is trying to reestablish normalcy, but am not sure.

Anyone else had this happen so many years after surgery?

If only my hearing nerve would regrow too!  :)

Mine started watering (previously didn't tear at ALL!) 16 years, to the day that I had surgery for my AN...I would like to think that something is happening...and certainly would not limit God's power! - but I don't think there's much going on.  It's only been 7 months - compared to 16 YEARS so who knows??  ???  ::)

My AN eye watered constantly, especially when excercising or getting very hot (while getting clothes out of dryer, etc). I ended up having a Jones tube inserted into the inner corner of my eye which helps drain the tears. I have to have the tube replaced every 6 months, but for me I am so happy not to have tears constantly running down my face.
I have facial paralysis so it had nothing to do with movement, for me anyway.
I would check with a doctor, neurologist or oculoplastic to find out how come this is happening 10 years later. You obviously don't have paralysis since you have eye movement, that's a good thing. I'd be curious to know what's going on. Always good thoughts, Nancy
