Title: Faster growing versus slower growing

Has anyone had a doctor tell them that if the tumor is fast growing, it is better to go with surgery, and if slow growing radiation is fine?  Is this just because the tumor could grow dangerously large before the radiation has a chance to work or is radiation less likely to work on a fast growing tumor?
