Title: Zumba ??
Post by: lrobie on February 28, 2012, 10:40:25 am
Tonight I will be taking my first Zumba class.   :D  I hope I can make it through without getting dizzy or losing my balance.  I love to dance, but haven't in a year or so.  Has anyone else taken Zumba while having balance issues and how did you do?

Lisa, I would be sure to speak with your instructor beforehand so that he or she is aware of your challenges. The instructor may also have some suggestions for you. Good luck.

 ??? :o ::)

Wow!   Zumba! You're very brave! Be sure to have plenty of padding all around, for gosh sakes, for a procedure that involves the balance nerve, you sure are daring! Just discussing it on the forum has left me feeling dizzy! What's next sky-diving!

Just kidding, good luck, keep us posted!

I took Zumba last year for awhile...no problem due to balance, more a matter of having trouble trying to follow all the steps ;D  Fun, though!  I have now started doing a class called Sh'bam at my gym - lots of fun!  Like it even more than the Zumba.  Just have fun with it and don't worry about following all the moves, do what you can.

My husband & I took up dancing (west coast swing and ballroom) a year after my surgery and we have been having a great time!

You can do whatever you put your mind to, if it's something you really want to do!

Have fun,

cindy

 ;D  I will have my friends all around ready to catch me.  I can use this as a good excuse for not doing as well as them!!

Sky-diving?  Hmmmm....

I tried Zumba on the WII.  My brain was not the problem, it was my 2 left feet.  My Grandson was hysterical watching me!  Now I try it with no peanut gallery watching....

I made it!!  I got through the class without feeling dizzy, etc.  It's going to take a lot of practice to get those moves down though.  The problem that I did have was not being able to hear the instructor.  I don't think she was talking loud to begin with and, instead, was using hand signals.  I thought the hand signals were part of the dance routine.  Imagine that!!   ;D

Good for you, Lisa!!!!!  LOL! about the hands.

I've ended up wearing earplugs in my spinning class because the music hurts my ears so can't really hear much of anything so I just do what everyone else does.  Good thing these are stationary bikes.   :D

I am inspired,  I need to at least get on the stationary bike we bout 2 weeks after my surgery and it has been 5 weeks now.  I need to do something..as I feel my momentum in recovery slipping.  I am not sure why.....
I am smiling about Zumba though and remembering why I should read the positive entries more often!  Thanks Ana folks.
