Mr Bill the new newbie here

Diag 06/20/2011 right AN 1.4cm x 3mm x 8mm , 2ND MRI 12/2011 - 9mm x 3mm x 12mm Retosigmoid surgery set for 02/29/2012 at HEI Dr Friedman & Dr. Schwarts. I have got so much info from the ANA site and all the posts that sent me on my journey to HEI. Only one week out from surgery and all set to go. Looks like from all the post that there is a ANA Party at St Vincents. Just kidding    :) ???

Oh no, it's Mr. Bill!!...just kidding.  Welcome to our AN family.  I'm curious how you discovered you had the AN.  Were you having symptoms?  Where are you from?  Also, if you don't have hearing loss, did HEI say anything about doing middle fossa?

Hi Mr. Bill,

Lot's of luck and a speedy recovery.  I didn't use the team at HEI, I had an excellent team here in NYC, but from what other AN patients have posted, you're in good hands.  Don't be afraid to ask as many questions now and post op.  Keep in mind, each of us recovers differently, there is no blueprint to recovery.  I hope and pray that your recovery is fantastic.  God Bless !

Mr. Bill
I am scheduled retrosigmoid 3/7/12 with Dr. Friedman & Schwartz at HEI. You are 1 week before me. Are you staying at Seton Hall? JanetD surgery is 2/28/12 with Friedman & Schwartz. Wow they are busy.

 Hi All

Symptoms for the first four weeks - sever vertigo, tinnitus, fatigue, tinnitus, walking and concentranting difficulties. After that - on off vertigo, 20% hearing loss , fatigue, tinnitus, walking  a strait line difficulties. Sent Dr Friedman both my MRI's and he recommended RETO with out talking about Middle Fossa. I was happy and shocked with that as two other DR. in IL only recommended translab with 100% hearing loss. I will ask Dr Friedman on Tuesday.
We are staying at seton guest center.

Mr. Bill
I'm guessing he said Retro and not Mid Fossa because maybe your AN is located more out of the IAC than in. Mid Fossa is used more when the AN is located more within the IAC. I'm no Dr. this is just my opinion and what I have read.
I will more than likely see you at the Seton.  ;D

Mr. Bill,

I don't want you to second guess the type of surgery.  I was just curious as your AN is around the same size as mine and Dr. Friedman recommended middle fossa for mine.

Good luck with your surgery next week.  I can't wait for you and Mindy to share your experiences.

Hi All

As I understand it the NA is located  both in (9 mm ) and out of the IAC .

Thanks
Mr. Bill

Hi Mr. Bill and welcome to this rather exclusive AN "club" .....

Not that any of us wanted to be members, but it is comforting to know that others have gone before us and are now doing well post treatment.

We also have something in common, because Drs. Friedman and Schwartz did my translab surgery last May.  They are excellent (as are many other physicians across the country) so you picked a good team to increase your chances of a good result.

Just an FYI, the next ANA Symposium is in 2013 in Los Angeles so we may just have to have that party then!   ;D

Best wishes for next week.

Clarice

Great to hear from you, Mr. Bill!  And very glad to hear you are out of the hospital - sounds like you are doing well!  Walk the Seton tunnel and outside as much as you can and nap, too!

Thanks for the update - continue to do well,

cindy

I'm glad your doing well Mr. Bill. I'm happy to have met with you. You and Janet looked so good after surgery that it made me feel more confident. I hope your home recovering and enjoying life as you know it again.
