Title: Heating Pad and Tinnitus
Post by: Mickey on February 08, 2011, 11:10:55 am
Having tinnitus for over thirty years I think I have found something else which does seem to take the noise down a notch. Iv`e been doing this for a long time on + off and not even realizing to mention it. Before you go to sleep try a warm pad on the ear (lay on it) whcih makes the most noise (usually AN side). If you can, do it again before you get up in the morning and go about your day hopefully feeling a little better. Everything helps in our efforts to try things which make us feel  better. Best wishes, Mickey

Mickey

Great idea!  I have been letting hot water pound the back of my ear while in the shower and that seems to help some as well.

Mickey .....

Thanks for sharing this idea.  I'm going to try it tonight.  Not quite sure how it does it, but it certainly cannot hurt anything and everything to gain if it works!

Good and easy to appply idea Mickey.
In summer the tinnitus is usually not as loud as in winter.
I also verified that my tinnitus stopped for half an hour when I was in sauna for twenty minutes.
Unfortunately I had to stop going to the sauna  because I have a small cavernous angioma in the left side of my brain.
My AN side is on the right so I can try the warm pad.

Thank you

Sounds like this would feel good, at any rate.  Sometimes my AN ear has such a "dead" feeling to it (that is, when it's not making weird noises!).  I'll try this some time.

Woke up this morning went thru the routine and its about a half our into my day. My ring is tuned in nicely! no crackles or anything else but a mild noise which is buy now a part of me. I can deal with this and blend into a quite normal day. I`m wishing for the best for everyone, Mickey

I'll give it a try, Mickey. Thanks.
My T gets louder throughout the day, no matter what I do. Does yours stay at the same tone as when you wake up?

Yes, it is typical for tinnitus to get louder during the courrse of a day especially if your having a bad one. The object is to bring yourself to relaxation going into the evening and get in the bed that way to minimize the noise and put on the heating pad. Just something I been doing over the years which helps me a little. Mickey

Mickey,

Thanks for the idea, I'll have to try it.  I am 7 months post op and still can't lay on my AN side but I'll lay it on top.
