Hi guys
I had my retrosigmoid surgery just 4 weeks ago. I cannot say that i am thrilled with he results esp. that my eye wasnt properly protected and I didn't get good instruction how to do that by myself. As a result I have some sort of infection and there is not ophtamlogist in sight on Christmas day, my doctor who is quite adistance from me told me over the phone I need to see a specialist because I can lose sight in my right eye its just I cannot find anybody and ER drs. wont know about it enough. Any suggestions, I'm reallyscared I can loose my sight... Can I wait couple more days If yes should I use any meds

I am in no way a Dr, but I have had my fair share of eye problems. I think that the main concern is still to keep it properly lubricated. I would suggest putting in Refresh PM around the clock and getting to an eye Dr. ASAP!! Optometrist and opthomologist have Dr.s on call - even during the holidays. Did you have an eye Dr before, just for regular vision concerns? That would be just best bet to get a fast pass to a specialist. Just my opinion...good luck!

I agree with Kay. You're better off going to the ER. The ER doctor probably won't know enough to be able to fix your specific problem, but he can either give you something and offer you suggestions on how to keep the eye protected until you can get to a specialist, or he can call in the specialist. There's always one on call.
In the mean time, keep some PM ointment in there at all times (Refresh PM, Lacrilube, etc).
You don't want to let it go - it's best to nip the problem in the bud.
Good luck!

Hi Kaybo
thanks for your replay.
I have regular ophtamologist that I saw before surgery and everything was OK. My neuurlogical ophamologist saw me once in rehab. He gave me lubricant, artificial tears and told me to tape my eye at night. My eye was pinkish until tonight when it turned red interestingly it doesn't hurt so much. I cannot leave home because of small kid. i'm waiting for husband to chauffer me around. I have couple of hospitals and ers around me but doesnt look that they have ophtamologist. I guess I have towait till tomorrow and pray that my eye will still be working.

I agree with everyone else about seeing a doctor. Just a quick thought, could it be something as simple as pink eye? Especially when you have kids it is easy to get it, since they can bring the bug home from school/daycare. Since your eye is dry, it may be more prone to a problem like this - I had quite a few instances of this in the last few years. It is usually accompanied by a thick discharge. They do sell drops for this over the counter.
By the way, how did the surgery go overall? Where they able to remove the AN completely?

Hi flier 58
Did yot u resolve your balance problems and determine if hydrocephalus was an issue? My 2.4 cm AN was treated with GK as you read back in October. I am doing well and except for occasional neck pain which occurs when seated at computer for hours. No eye problems although find need stronger glasses and no headaches or facial weakness and would recommend GK with experienced Dr as Dr K from U of Pitts.. Hope all is well now> Allan acgk2009.
