Title: Another school for the deaf in Africa
Post by: dalern on November 19, 2010, 01:40:52 pm
My last day in Momnbasa, I visited another school for the deaf.  This was not an adult vocational school, but rather a boarding school for kids 4-18.  They have very few resources at this facility. For the kids who do not pass their government exams and are not able to go on to high school, they have vocational training for the boys in woodworking and the girls in tailoring and sewing. They were fascinated with my BAHA, but once again, the likelihood of that option for them is slim.  Not only the cost is an obstacle, but also the technology.  At this facility there were no CIs either.

Got home last night and made my last blog entry and sent photos.  I was not ready to come home!
