Title: Very,very good news!
Post by: Cheryl R on April 13, 2010, 06:50:25 pm
MRI and then audiogram and dr appt this am.       NO new tumor or recurrent ones!        Audiogram is no change!    I was expecting the worse and and very happy to know I am ok for now!    My hearing has seemed off some and I do know worse when had a sinus infection  several weeks ago.     Plus balance has it's spells too!      So anyway back to real life again and live as usual with the hearing and goofy balance due to no balance nerves but very grateful that I am not worse off than I am.        I did have a few tears of joy!                                      Cheryl R

Mark is doing pretty well.    Just using one crutch most of the time.   Some pain some of the time but not alot and can tell moving better.               He is back to work but just in the grain elevator office.         Just going to take time to get back to normal.

More to add.    I have  96% for the speech discrim and my dr is very happy for that but has never really talked about how that is ok but still not the best out in the real world esp since no hearing on the other side.         He finally acknowledged that yesterday and surprised me by saying I am on the edge of being a candidate for a BAHA.        As good as they are for so many people,am not sure if would want to have one.      Since I am retired am not sure.            Something to think about and try the demo.         The balance problems are maybe more annoying than the hearing.                 I was also asking about if any plastic surgeon could fix the pooch between the eyebrow and eye.        I have almost no movement there so of course they think a oculo-plastic surgeon would be better.      Now going to see about a consult with the one down there.       Was hoping for one closer to me.
So will see about that.                                              Cheryl R

Since I have no eye issues, other than mild cataracts, I have no experience with any surgical intervention.  However, since our vision is so much a part of our balance, it seems to me it would be wise to do whatever necessary to assure that you have the best possible vision.  If the puffy place below your eyebrow is obstructing your vision, it could well be affecting your balance, as well.  Let us know what you find out.  Always something, it seems .....

Yea, Cheryl what a relief! Congrats on the good news.

I agree with Clarice, about the puffy place below the eyebrow obstructing the vision which affects balance. I guess for me it is the saggy skin. Any eye procedure with an experienced  oculoplastic surgeon is a good thing, especially if the facial nerve was compromised or little to no eye movement.
I'm being followed by an excellent one at Madigan and plan to have two eye procedures separately in the fall (a canthopexy to bring up the lateral lower eyelid, and then a brow lift later.)

(But first my miracle surgery in May  for muscle/nerve transplant to cheek ;D)

The journey continues. At least these are procedures to help you feel better so the BAHA may be worth a try. Still got a lot of living to do!

My eye puffiness isn't real bad but can see it a bit from that eye.       My husband was actually the one who mentioned it last year and maybe should check into it while had  used deductible.             I went on and did colonscopy instead toward the end of the year as felt that was more important.            So this time can be the eye since his hip and my MRI will take care of deductible real well!
I hope your soon to be surgery will work well for you Moe.  Pretty bad for us when something like these surgeries are big deal to us.
