mErRY CHrIsTMas from our family to yours! Hope all have a safe & wonderful holiday season and a great 2010!
Things have been a bit busy here lately (like they aren't always crazy busy!) as I have thrown something new into the mix! I feel like I don't get to read everything that is written, but please know that I still care and am here for each & every one of you. I have jumped off and started seriously pursuing my photography career. I shot my first wedding on the 5th as the 2nd shooter and actually got some good shots - would love to share if anyone wants to see! ::) Now, I am working with a photographer here in town (she took these images) as her assistant and will be her "back up shooter" in 2010. I will shoot under her name and take pictures for her when she has too much business or something comes up & she can't make the shoot - she has already used some of the pictures that I took last week with her on a shoot! She says that I have a lot more talent than I thought...I always thought that I kind of had the "eye" - Lori said that at least if God had to leave me with only one eye, it was a REALLY good one! :D At he same time, I will be shooting on my own & building up my business and clientele. Anyone need any pictures??
Love to all my AN family!

Good for you Kay!
One of the most fascinating photography portrait exhibits I have seen was on doppelgangers by French Canadian photographer Francois Brunelle
Here is an ABC news article on him

CBC news article (my favorite video)

Here is his website

Now that portrait photographers do not have to spend hours in a toxic dark room (as I did in my youth with my students) and there is Internet and digital images… this art-form has taken on such exciting dimensions.
Good for you for going after this…
Merry Christmas and many blessings to your family.

Congrats on your dreams taking flight and about God leaving your good eye, yeah he is Good like that. ;D I've been meaning to tell you Thank You for contacting me right away when I found out about my AN, before I ever even found this place. It really blessed me and I'll never forget it. Merry Christmas Kay.

I'm delighted to learn that you're getting back to photography and being successful at it. No surprise. You do have a very good 'eye' and your earlier photos (especially on your blog) show that. The photos of you, Dave and the famous '3 Curly Girlies' are charming. You're a great lady and a valued contributor to these AN forums. Your cheery, breezy attitude is infectious and your indomitable spirit shines through in every post you send. I know you've spent a lot of time talking to other AN patients by telephone and you are definitely admired for your servant's heart as you support so many others in their AN journey. Thanks for all you do and - Merry Christmas to you, too!

Gorgeous pictures, Kay ;D
What a beautiful, happy family.
Based on those wedding photos you sent me the other day, I can say with confidence - and true sincerity - that you definitely have a very promising career in the field of photography.
And just think, one day Saralynn will be able to say that she was your very first official subject. Who realized at the time, that it would all start at the ANA Symposium in Chicago?
Merry Christmas, little sister. May you always be the best behaved member of the JKL trio - not a difficult feat when the other two members are Lori and me ;) :D

Lookin' good! I love the picture of you and Dave! So sweet! And of course, the girlies look amazing!
If Saralynn was your first official photo shoot, does that mean she owes you a sitting fee? Sorry, I was hoping you'd hire me as your business manager. :D
Merry Christmas, my friend!
Lori
-
No, see the thing is, I waived my usual modeling fee to help Kaybo get a start in the photog business.
Yeah, that's it.
Sara
-
Kay, better get busy snapping! I don't think we're going to get rich off of Sara....I told her you should have had her sign that contract with the fine print! :D
-
I think her sitting fee will be...oh say, about the cost of a new transmission? Mine went out Monday...as I was driving down the highway talking to Lori on the phone!!

Kaybo,
Happy Holidays for you and your family. I hope 2010 is a great year for you all!

Kay,
Beautiful pics and family. I can see the love and happiness! (That's why we take pics- it doesn't show the sibling rivalry and such!)
Be safe during the holidays. Driving the highway while the transmission went out while talking to Lori......... We women tend to multitask but really!
Have a very Merry Christmas and and a prosperous and successful 2010!

Hey, be nice, now. I don't look that bad. Besides, I'm thinking we should start an agency for models with facial paresis. You gotta admit it's a niche market.

That halo slipping again, Lori?
Y'know, Kay's newfound trade taking pictures could come in handy in the garage surgery business y'all have been trying to get started.. I'm just sayin..

Brian -
we might be looking for a partner for our garage surgery business. Are you in?
Oh, did I mention we're looking for someone to give us the startup money?? :D
Jan
-
Sure! Count me in for some moral support, a couple of drills, circ saw, and a screwdriver or two. About the startup money, I'll have to ask around (panhandle?).. ;) If Phyl will land that jet of hers long enough, we could strip it and sell the scrap for some startup cash.. :)

In your dreams, my Pooter!!!!!!!!! :o ;) :-* :-* :-*
Kay, FANTASTIC photo of you, the scallywag and the curly girlies! What a lovely family pic and thanks for sharing it with us.
I know I've been real quiet lately (but trust me, I've been on here more than you all know....).... I send you all wishes for a terrific holiday season.... filled with joy, prosperity and most of all, good health!
Happy Holidaze all! (yes, "-daze"... as the holiday season and the hustle/bustle always puts me in a haze!)

Hi K: wonderful pictures ! Your Mona Lisa smile is beautiful ! ! Great news to on the photography jaunt ! snap away ! !
Always good thoughts, Nancy
-
Thanks for all of the kind words!
Saralynn - I don't think Lori was implying in any way that the model wasn't beautiful - just that you didn't sign the dotted line! ;)
Pooter - You know I will travel and would LOVE to take your pictures sometime while I am there...Grandma & Grandad have the DREAM yard for taking pictures (I wished they lived here, but then everything would be green and blooming all the time!). I was there Thanksgiving but tied up with family. I will certainly let you know when we come back - probably Spring Break (if G & G are in town) &/or Easter...
I was pretty proud of the "smile" - you just have to take what you get! :D
K ;D

Merry Christmas Kaybo and family!
Wow you look terrific and your family is so sweet!
2010 is going to be an amazing year for all of us!
Love to you all!

K,
I enjoyed your family pictures!
Best wishes as you move forward with a promising photography career. What camera do you prefer? Nikon or Canon or????
Kate
-
I have a Canon (a Rebel XSi)...my SIL who is a successful photographer in LA helped us pick one. She just switched from Canon when she took the plunge and bought the super duper professional one. I think that this is a SUPER nice camera (I've never had a SLR) for me and am VERY happy with it. She prefers Canon until you get to the super big pro ones, but really she thinks both are pretty comparable. Of course, as I have read numerous times in photo books - it doesn't matter what equipment you have, but what you see!!
