Title: Vibrations
Post by: Ernie on September 23, 2009, 12:07:44 pm
I am 7 weeks post op MF approach.  I am having issues that I don't know if I would describe as a headache or not.  I have problems being around noises or viibrations.  Even just me talikng causes my head on the surgery side to vibrate.  So does movement.  As the day goes on it gets worse and then causes a headache.  Has anybody had this issue post op?  Suggestions?

My House Dr. seems to think that it is just a tension headache from the muscles and nerves healing and the stress of recovery.  He has suggested that I try a drug like Topomax to get me through this point.  I am worried that I am now going to have constant headache issues.  I never had them pre op.  I am also fighting depression at this point and am on xanex for anxiety which seems to make it better for a while.  I am going to my GP today to talk about some options.  Should I see a specialist of some kind?  I am starting to freak out about it because I have had this issue for weeks and has not really gotten any better.

Please help.

Ernie ~

I'm so sorry to learn of your emerging headache issues.  Depending on what your GP recommends, you may wish to seek a referral to a pain management physician/clinic.  They are specialists.  One caveat: you may need to give your body more time to heal, as the HEI doctor advised.  If so, medication many be your best choice to get you through that period.  Again, your doctor should be able to advise you with more credibility.  I certainly hope and will pray that your headaches can be resolved or controlled, soon.

Something just popped out at me when I read this. Dr thinks it's stress related, and then on top of it all, you are stressing about this. Vicous circle. :(

All kinds of weird things happen after surgery. Heck, there was one day when I got tired enough that what I was thinking was not coming out of my mouth. I guess I just said the same word over and over. It quickly passed, but scared the hell out of my mom.

The point is... don't get too stressed out while your body heals. Try to keep thinking positive with the assumption that things will be fine. I truely believe in the power of positive thinking.
