Title: Monday Weigh in
Post by: Battyp on March 20, 2006, 07:30:19 am
Ok, today is the official start (and we're talking US time Larry) of the weigh in.  You do not need to post your weight just wether you want to lose more or less than 10 pounds.  You don't even need to disclose how much you want to lose!  Winner each week gets a cyber chocolate bar unless it's me then I get a chocolate matthew bar  :o

So far we have:

TheCakes
Static
PPearl214
Shoe Girl
Matti
and I

I'll have to check the other post to see who else needs to be included.  I know Larry our buddy from Down under does.

Batty, i posted my weight in on the other web site but I'll do it again.  10 down would be nice.  I lost 1lb as of Mon.8:30 am.   I had chewing gum instead of cheet-os while I watched tv last nite.  It was ok.  I hope to do the same tonite.

I'm in. I even bought a new digital scale yesterday since it seems my old scale was lying. My personal trainer/PT saw me at the gym yesterday and noted that it seemed I had lost weight! :)  I'll take that.

Ok, I'm in for 15 lbs reduction.  Current weight is 151 as of today. (ugh!)

Heck, forget the cyber bars... I'll ship to the winner whereever... even to the Aussies! :)

Deb.... um.... you left your neck cowbell at my house.. want me to ship it back or hand deliver it??? ;)

Ok, how about this? Forget the cyber bars... and can't offer Matthew to hand deliver... BUT, there are some great chocolates here in Boston (Harbor Sweets or Stowaway Sweets - chocs of the White House) right here near me... UNLESS we get someone from the West Coast to pick up the See's Chocolates (trust me, I KNOW my chocolate) OR, I can get UK Cadbury (now, I'm not talking Hershey-made Cadbury but the WORLD RENOWNED UK Cadbury), but you all hit your target goals and I'm buying and shipping.

FYI... not only am I a Weight Watchers Lifetime member, but they also asked me to work for them.. something about me being inspirational or crap....).   Anyone needing help with the "points" program, lemme know... the Flex program, you're own your own.

You wacky wenches have brought this down under guy to tears with laughter (got some funny looks at work).

I'm in for those chockies Phyl, and I am collecting when i come to Seattle in September - boy thats a challenge, mmm 23 kgs at 2.2046 pound per kg  aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  carrots, lettuce and lots of dog walking here I come.

By the way, when i said football Capt deb, I meant Aussie Rules "footy". It's a great game, fast, furious and physical. You wenches would have loved seeing the game in the late 70's / early eighties when the theme of the day was tight shorts. Tight and short they were, no imagination needed (if you know what i mean). Don't know how we ran in those things. The season starts again in a couple of weeks so I'm sure one of your cable channels will have it. Even to "check them out" would be worth a watch. oops, better not fill this thread with other crap, my cyber cheeks are still sore after the spanking from Phyl.

Used to date a rugby player in Aspen in the 70's--he had a bumper sticker that said "Rugby Players Eat Their Dead"--and wore very tight short shorts wooooooeeeee! Is it like rugby?

Capt Deb,

Nothing like rugby you silly moo (Alf garnett in Till Death us do part)

Aussie Rules is a proper game of footy.

I'll start another thread one day and explain the key bits of each footy code - I'll try and put a wacky twist to it so will have to be a little creative.

Phyl,

I do believe we have See's Candies Stores here in Phoenix!  I love chocolate!  Funny thing is I never really tried their chocolate.  Too late now - have to wait until I hit my goal! But if you want See's I can certainly get it for you! My personal favorite is Sarris's Chocolate from Canonsburg, PA.  Their chocolate pretzels are amazing!! And chocolate covered popcorn.  And everything else.

By the way, how long are we dieting?  Or is it the first person to hit their goal?

Shoegirl,

YAY!  You are near See's!  I know Mark is too!  I live for the lollipops, choc/caramel/peanut butter.  I keep some in my office for when I'm working on spreadsheets... helps me to think! :)

Ok, first to hit the goal, gets the choccie... now, how do we know you hit the goal? Thoughts?

Laz, your butt is safe for now.  I'm shooting for 1 Brit Stone (14 lbs)

The see's lollipops are weight Watcher friendly. That's my treat everyday. I love the butterscotch. I have two See's Candy stores within a 2 mile radius of my house. I'd be more than happy to send you some as well.

Phyl - Hope all is going well for you today, I am thinking about you!  :)

I think I might have weighed that when I was 5.  Of course, I'm 5'10", so I'd look really weird at 117.

I have several See's locations in the Seattle area to chose from.  I do like those lolly's.  Good stuff.  Whatcha got in Boston for trade?  Wonderous thing, the internet, you can order anything from anywhere, anytime.

I'll try to do better and be down next Monday.  I have 20-30 to get down.  Did WW in the eighties and did real well.

I blame it on my wacked-out taste buds from the AN!  YES I know I only weigh 128, but it's JIGGLY!  Jiggle!  jiggle! jiggle! I am also only 3 feet tall, so I'm quite wide. What in blazes is a pie and sauce? Do they sell it at footy games?
Capt Deb
Title: Re: Monday Weigh in
Post by: Larry on March 21, 2006, 09:15:36 pm
Oh no, Captain Deb, you don't know what a pie and sauce is - I guess you've been eating too many of granny's viddles - they are very popular at "the footy"

actually it was a meat pie - interesting term for it coz to be labelled a meat pie, it is not, I repeat, not allowed to contain more than 5% meat. Work that one out?

Now, for those wackyites that haven't been to Adelaide, which is the capital city of South Australia, which is one of our 6 states (yeah, we have 6 states the same size as your 50. Mind you 9/10ths of our land is rather nasty desert so no good for ships). Right, where was i, oh yeah, Adelaide. Now Adelaide is called the city of churches coz it's got lots of churches - we are pretty clever down under. It also has a rather large volume of topless underground (below street level) cafe's. Goose bumps a flyin everywhere. Anyway, in Adelaide, there is a suburb called Norwood. now Norwood is a rather sleepy little suburb but it is the home of the infamous Pie Cart. Now this pie cart has the most traditional "meal" in the country. It is called a pie floater. You can only face this pie floater if you are paraletic and then you can't hold it down - i think thats called double jeopardy!

This pie floater is a meat pie (with less than 5% meat) smothered in vinegar and tomato sauce sitting on top of a bowl of thick green pea soup - that's enough to send anyone on a diet. - ah, what are these men in white uniforms doing here - they have a jacket with lots of straps... outahere man.

I sort of have been a bad girl, I ate a few things I wasn't suppose to - emotional eating. :'(  So I only lost  a 1/2 pound.  Planning to be a very good girl this week to make up for last week. ;D

LaMar what is ep200?  the only diet aids I've done is green tea and apple cider vinegar which as the time helped I lost 25 pounds in about 8 weeks.  I was also walking 3 miles a day and watching what i ate.  trying to get back to that especially after seeing my mothers booty in the mirror the other day  lol

karla did you know if you share your chocolate with wenches the calories don't count?   ::)

How does the apple cider work?  Do you take it with the green tea?  Share please!
Title: Re: Monday Weigh in
Post by: Battyp on March 27, 2006, 10:15:23 am
You can add apple cider to water and drink it but i don't drink flavored things well so I did the supplements.  They are sold in the vitamin isle at wal mart.  I typically would take one in the am along with a green tea supplement, drink some hot brewed green tea.  It flushes out your system. I did real well with it then after showing signs of symptoms from my an I put on abuot 40 pounds in what seemed like overnight.  Then I had the decadron which didn't help matters so now trying to lose the extra weight.  I've not done any supplements this time.  After tomorrow's appt with the internist I might start again.  I'm so tired of my clothes not fitting and not having the stamina for finances to shop for new ones!

I hate the clothes thing too - my dh doesn't understand why I have so many pairs of jeans - I try to explain that  I have skinny jean, not so skinny jeans, and just plain fat jeans  :( .  When I get to the point that my belly starts to hang over my jeans I move up to the next category. My belly is the first place that I notice the fat as it has stretch memory from being preggy twice.  I feel like a big stuffed sausage.

I am going to try the apple cider and green tea thing. I'll check walmart.  Thanks!

Okay back to the diet thing,

I want chocolate so bad today!!!!!!  HELP ME! :'(

I got the apple cider diet supplements today - and I started South Beach over yesterday.  Neither of which is allowing me to have a chocolate fix.

Shoegirl, this forum is great help usually but when it comes to removing choccie from people - forget it. Choccie vats are everywhere.

Hey BP wenchie babe, email the moderator he'll fix you. I wrote to him about those fast sell emails and he stopped them. It may cost you your handcuffs but hey, you probably have a dozen pairs.

Shoegirl....in the store I found, I think it was Nestle brand, hot chocolate that's made with Splenda...it's low carb and something like 25 calories a serving.  It does in a pinch...better than any other SF hot chocolate.  I would think that would fit in with the South Beach thing, other than the induction phase.

Laz where do I find the moderator?  I've sent some emails to someone but they've gone unheard  :(

Splenda good....YUMMM I make an awesome pumpking cheesecake with splenda that is atkins approved I'd imagine it would be ok with south beach too.  I have the south beach book riding in the car with me.  Must stop and read it sometime...

Do you know what cruely is?  It's my son leaving candy bars lying around that I can't eat because his girlfriend gave them to him and he'd know if one was missing.  He says he's trying to save me from myself.  I'm thinking he's really trying to torment me!  He's gonna walk the plank!

BP - we are going to have to send them off two at a time, as my husband will be walking the plank with your son. My dearest one (not what I called him earlier) brought home a double layer german choc. cake.  >:(

Did he have a glass of cold milk to go with it?  If not then he walks the plank twice and Laz will leve the sharks there ready to get him!  HOW RUDE...

Now where's the moderator who will give me back my identity?

I always liked it as a last treat of the day to reward myself for being good.  I've not been good lately.  I need to lose 10 in 10 weeks tho, before vacation.  Doing good today, so far.   I did Adkins for a long time, so I know some good tricks.  Now I'm just trying to eat well, with whole grains, kinda like South Beach.  I missed fruit on Adkins, apples and bananas especially.

planter facitis (sp?)  basically the tendons that run under your heel and through your arch gets short and it's like walking on a bed of nails.  Very painful!  Takes about 3 mos of physical therapy to get it under control and one bad day of walking to bring it back.  I had to have my ankle reconstructed and wound up with it...OUCH..we need a hunky foot rub guru to join us!

From what I was told post surgery...they commonly happen due to certain meds we take like decadron or  levequin.  I wonder if there's ever been a study. I know I took both but also spent 2 months in bed after surgery which I think was a major contributor.

EPH200 is a new supplement that they came out with that is a mix of seven herbs that is suppose to help kick start your metabolism and burn more calories, while giving you more engery and so forth.  I have seen increased energy while taking them but that is probably due to all of the caffenine in it!

Thanks for the comiserating comments about the plantar faciitis.  I've been dealing with it off and on for a year now and it's been really bad since December.  I'm doing all the right things, but having it hurt with every step is really wearing me out.  I'm going to a massage therapist for an hour next week and all she's going to do is work on my feet/legs.  I'm hoping a few rounds of that will fix this last bit of it.  I'm already working on mom and the boyfriend to stretch my feet post surgery before I'm walking much.  So I'm going tomorrow morning to swim for the first time in ages, hopefully I won't sink!!!  :)

Kathleen have you tried a slant board?  Basically it's a board on a slant (go figure eh?  lol) which you stand on daily for about 3 mins to stretch your tendon?  It does help correct the problem another option would be to take a towel while you're watching tv and loop it around your foot keeping your foot pulled forward to stretch the tendon.  No one seems to understand it's hard to walk as each step is so painful!  I'm doing light therapy at rehab for my feet.  It does help believe it or not!

I don't do either of those, but try to make a point of stopping and stretching both my hamstring and achilles everytime I go up and down my stairs.  I do have a rocker thingy that you're supposed to stand on to stretch them, but I usually just do the stairs.

The massage gal worked on my achilles this week for a bout 5 minutes and it was  heaven!!!!!!!!  I called at her regular office and asked for an hour.  I can't wait!!!!!!!!

OK WENCHES!
It's Monday--time to break yer scales. I gained a pound from the three huge Hershey's Extra Dark that Dr. Love bought and tried to hide from me.  I can sniff out a hidden choccie bar anywhere. He said he bought them cuz they were on sale.  He can't resist a good bargain.
No choccie bars this week I promise!!!
Also I didn't make it to the gym all week cuz I've been working on a new painting and don't want to lose my train of thought about it.  I am going to go tomorrow, though--please kick my butt if I don't!

OK Wenches, I am W  I  P   E  D     O   U   T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the gym, Lowe's for hand cleaner and paint thinner, then did a major grocery shop. I feel like I just got offa Mantu at Busch Gardens!  Had to get a cute bagger to put the groceries in the car.  Three years and I still get absolutely wonky-headed in a grocery store.  Our little mountain town has doubled in population in the past 10 years, so the  traffic is usually horrendous on these little twisty roads . I am done for the day.

I'm tired of paying $4.00 for one of those little bags of eat and pour salad, so I bought 3 kinds of lettuce, raddichio, arugula, spinach, carrots, and red cabbage, cleaned it all, tore the lettuce and whacked up the rest and made a huge bin of ready to eat salad for Dr. Love's and my weight loss get-fit program.  I love salads, but they are a pain, particularly when I'm working and want something easy to fix. Throw it in a bowl, throw in some cooked chicken and voila! really nice lo-cal lunch or dinner. But now I am WIPED OUT!

I know champagne is traditional but i'm more an untraditional type of gal so....

tie matthew to the correct spot and feather dust him er I mean the ship ...

use a bottle of mudslide mix instead of champange

use chocolate filled bottles to get the job done

Will any of those work? If not I do have an aged bottle of bubbly we can use ;D

Yikes!! I gained 2 pounds!  I didn't even have any chocolate at all last week!  Didn't go to the gym but once.  It's not the work-out that keeps me out of the gym--it's the drive there and back.  I also have a hard time getting going in the morning--I find I have to sit around for an hour or so or I'll end up with a headache.  Then it's 11:00 and I need to start working.  Our season is just beginning and I don't have much artwork in the gallery because of my 2 1/2 year "vacation" in bed with incapactiating daily headaches!

An itsy bitsy SPIDER!!!! C'mon, us wenches can take care o' our own SPIDERS can't we???

One evening I was relaxing in my living room--in my old bachelor pad.  I heard a funny big PLOP coming from across the room. As I walked over to the noise (still had directional hearing then) I saw one of my hanging plant baskets swinging.  I looked down at the floor and there....curled up on the floor.........was a...........seven....or...eight... foot........... BLACK SNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It had been hanging out in the basket and had gotten ther by crawling along one of the ceiling beams.

I screamed AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  Luckily, Dr. LUUUUURVVE was visiting and was in the studio---he came running into the room, picked up the snake with his BARE HANDS, and took it outside!  It was right there and then that I decided I would have to marry him!!

I want to join you all for this one too. I have put on at least ten pounds since surgery and have been struggling to get it back off. I have been trying to convince me to go walking everyday but I still feel afraid. I weigh in at 120 now...I know thats not a lot but I am only 5 feet tall so the extra ten pounds means all my clothes are uncomfortable.
Can you hear me chanting....Lose those pounds, lose those pounds and NO, NO, NO to cookies!!! ;)

Deb I did my head turns and I did pretty good.  I only stumbled about 3 or 4 times during my walk from getting off balance.  I do better turning my head to the right it's the left that throws me.  Will continue especially now that the weather is so nice.  Not too hot not too cold, just right!

By July I won't want to go outside except in the morning to swim in the pool which will be considered bath water it will be so warm!  AHHH the joys of no seasons  in Fl  lol

My sweetie's nickname is Spiderman or Spidey, because they freak me out.  This was a big one for this part of the country, probably about 3" or so.  I could not live in Texas or anywhere in the south where they have the big ones.  Snakes are OK, I can handle my own snakes.  The only living thing that freaks me out is spiders.

I really need to lose 10 before my vacation so that I can fit into my summer stuff.  All in all, I'd like to lose about 30, but figure I can deal with that after surgery.  Today I did well, other than having an anxiety riddled day, had one See's lolly in honor of Phyl, but that was the only bad food, and it's not really bad.  It was made easier because I stayed home today, and I don't have bad stuff here, as just knew I was in no state to try and do a Monday at work.

I also RAN a MILE on the treadmill NONSTOP!!!!!  Of course I was totally wasted the rest of the day, but I did it!!!

Would anyone be interested in doing a Mile walk club--sort of like the Monday weigh in only make a commitment to walk, run, skip, or wobble a mile every day or 5 or 4 or 3 times a week?
For those post-surgery who had their balance nerves "sacrificed" it is so essential for balance re-training to walk on a regular basis.  Especially doing the "bobble-head strut" I call it.

I'll start a walking thread if I can get a few of you interested.

I would love to Deb, if I could get my foot to cooperate.  Went to the gym yesterday and did 30 minutes on the bike, walked a mile, then swam laps for 20 minutes...then sat in the hot tub.  My foot did not like the walk.  Luckily I have a therapy massage in a couple hours to work on my calves/feet.  Trying to get the last bit of plantar faciitis done with.  I will walk in your club if my foot lets me!  If not, I will try to do something else in it's place!  I now have 8 weeks to lose 10 lbs, and I need to get off my butt and do it.  The deep water aerobics class looked interesting last night!

Capt Deb,

Does walking to the dunny (down under description of public convenience) count as part of the mile???? coz I do about that every day at work. I think i drink too much.

Deb why is it you always have to one up me?   ;D I couldn't run a mile if my life depended on it.  I did try the other day and I died laughing.  I'd be willing to walk with you!  I try to do a mile every day...tried to do 3 miles but didn't make it as my time was up on the treadmill...I used to run, I used to be able to sit on the floor too  lol  :P

When I walk, I get so tense because of trying so hard not to stumble around so my walks are not all that relaxing. If anyone has any ideas on how to get over that, please, please, fill me in.  When I'm not running all over the place after work because of something someone needs or something that has to be done, as long as the weather permits, I try to do 2 miles.  Between that and eating yogurt daily (almost solely) because of the recent root canals, I still haven't lost any weight  :-[ but am going to keep on trying.  As for the spiders, I have a spider farm in my basement, they are all over, but I haven't seen anything bigger than a nickel. (or is that another thread)  Anyway, boss is here, back to work.  If I don't get back here anytime soon, wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy holiday!

Static when I walk outside or in a store I find myself getting very very anxious.  Enogh so that I've had anxiety attacks and couldn't breath.  I know its from concentrating and the fear of falling.  I do better if I have someone to walk with.  I walked the other day around the loop in my neighborhood alone and didn't have my freak out session I think it was because I've practiced so much with my son and in my mind I knew if I fell someone would help me.  I am more steady on the treadmill as it's isolated in the sense I don't have to try to focus on things going by like at a store or outside.  I too cant' seem to get the scale to budge and truely think it's due to hormone imbalance which hopefully will be confirmed tomorrow.  Id o notice if I drink more water and less soda or sugared drinks I don't feel as bloated so hopefully that is helping too!

My spiders are all in my garage or outside where they need to stay!

hey Static!  Sounds like you are doing everything right, honestly! :)  If you just take your time, not push yourself.... I am a power walker and have been for years... at the gym, on the treadmill.  I've learned that if I just take a deep breath, focus on my breathing and just take each step at a time, I just move along. My trainer has been working with me lately for energy boost for post treatment and I have to say, what he has shared with me about walking (my dog is still pulling me but not as bad now) but I just take it each step at a time. I really find focusing on my breathing technique during the walk really pays off.

I have to say... I've spoken to many of you this past week about our Monday weigh in's and I'm thrilled to see the commradery in you all in trying to achieve a wonderful goal!  You all have really taken to this, shared thoughts/issues/remedies to help each other along and I commend you all for the dedication to try to embetter our health, even with all we endure.  Hats off! :)

Well group, I finally overcame my fear of walking alone. There is an athletic field near-by so I decided to walk around it. It was difficult because I was in the grassy area most of the time. My doctor told me to work extra hard on the things that are difficult to do so that is what I plan to do from now on.
I can really relate to the anxiety level too. I noticed today that I felt like my vision was off and everything seemed so surreal....like I was looking at my world through skewed lenses. However, I have promised myself that I will make myself move more...so today was day 1.  Luvs, Sherry

Yay Windy Wench!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Go Windy Go!!!
Go!  GO!! GO!!

That is huge!!!!
I remember my first alone walk!! My best best friend Marge followed me down the street in Sarasota in her cherry red Caddy with her head hung out the window!!  "You sure yer OK??? " she kept yellin'.  What a hoot!!  She lives in an older neighbor hood and prior to this she "slashed" me a path down the street, whackin' off all the overhanging branches back from the sidewalk,  lopped other peoples foliage right off with a big pair of pruners--what a sight!

Congrats--you will find your balance will come back in big chunks. The more ya walk the better ya get!!!!  Every every every day ya gotta work on it!!

Keep up the good work

Ever heard of Garrett's Popcorn in Chicago?  Well, I love their carmel, and cheese popcorn.  I had 2 gallons of it overnighted about a week ago and I polished it off over the weekend.  So it wasn't the chocolate, it was the popcorn, candy fishes, ice cream, popsicles, and the chocolate. I have been a very bad, bad, girl.

I am going to try the water thing too.  I don't drink enough either.

Is a buttectomy the same as a bootieotomy? Weighed in at 130--3 lbs more that when we started!  And only 1 small peice of chocolate the whole week.
I started with my personal trainer this today.  We're doing a combination of cardio, balance re-training and muscle toning. He's great! Didn't overwork me like I have a tendency to overwork myself.  I ran on the track without holding onto anything for the first time in 3 years!!

Oops guess I need to post that last bit on the fit club thread!

I think the jumbie from Laz's puter has moved into my bathroom scale!  I am up to 131 this Monday. I don't get why I fluctuate so much.  I did have a little choccie again last week--2 bars, but I still have 1/2 one left after 4 days.  Dark bittersweet, too.
Oh well, went to the gym today and walked 2 miles yesterday.  My trainer is brutal! (no not really!)  I was really sore all weekend in all the fat places--that's good right?

Capt Deb,

Maybe you gained muscle mass?  If you are sore you are building muscle in those areas.   I found my motivation today, took pictures of me in my bathing suit (a bikini none the less) - not a pretty picture.  This is going to be my motivation.  Everytime I want some chocolate or something bad I am going to look at the pictures.

Genny, feeling a pound or two lighter is always a good thing!

Happy Dieting!

I think the trick is to make everything you eat COUNT, and not eat what they call "empty calories." My downfall is really good artisan-baked BREAD dipped in Olive Oil and balsamic vinegar. I just gotta have a chunk with my salad! My local baker, Jep makes the best bread on earth--each loaf weighs about a ton and can be used as a door stop.  My favorite is Kalamata olive- rosemary--no...no... it's Fresh Basil Parmesan.  He is quite health conscious and uses a bit of whole grain in everything for "weight" he says.
Olive oil is fattening, but it keeps the pipes clean. I really avoid the sugar free stuff--they just trigger my sweet tooth. And I'm trying to get in a serving of lean dairy 3x a day.  Even been using lo-fat milk in my coffee--which is a stretch for a 1/2 and 1/2 user!

Been eating a big salad every day--guess I need to use a little less dressing--I make my own vinegrette.

My trainer Marshall is a 24 yr old Greek God, only not really Greek.  Just about the sweetest person I've ever met besides Dr. Love.  He has a 2 lb toy chihuahua named Anabelle and he's not gay!  Got her in a split from former girlfriend.  The woman that ends up with him will be a very lucky lady!

Anyway, since I've been working out I can already see a difference in my energy level. I don't get tired nearly as easy and I've been sleeping less and lots better.

Anyway that's the news from the Lake Wobegone Spa and Fitness Center!

So, get off the couch and go for a walk, y'all!! If I gotta do it, so do you!

Hugs and Kissies'

Hey batty you hit 1001, Congrats to you!  Let me know when Matthew shows up. Your timing is off though, no chocolate dips for him for 3 months. Hmmmm... how about cheesecake?  ;)

I love anything related to cinnabon. Went to Weight Watchers today, did lose almost 1 lb. I need to lose 3.6 lbs to get my gold stars and a ribbon. Having ribs and mashed potatoes for dinner, that should help  >:(

I know it isn't Monday yet, but I am down 3 pounds since Monday! Yeah!  It hasn't been too bad - I have been a pretty good girl.  Only cheated a little - had more than my daily allowance of nuts ( acouple of times).  I am trying to stay motivated!   I even did Yoga once this week - quite the accomplishment as I can't remember the last time I exercised.

The weekends are the hardest for me - eating out, etc.

Suzanne -   ;D ;D Way to Go!!!

I really want to do Yoga, because I heard it would help me with balance issues. Do you have any problems while doing Yoga?

I so agree that weekends are the hardest time to stay focused on weight loss. Definetly my biggest challenge. I am fine all week and then Saturday and Sunday are a free for all.

Thi Chi works well for balance too.  They hold two free senior classes at my pt place and I've heard the women telling the new ones that if you stick with it you'll see a difference in your balance.  I HATED it when I first started therapy because it was slow moving and I couldn't do it so I've never started it as part of my therapy.  I was told moving slow was harder with vestibular problems.

Thanks Girls!

Yoga really helps my balance and overall wellbeing.  I feel so relaxed afterwards.  I did Yoga before I knew I had AN.  And I found the more I did it the better my balance became.  I waited a few weeks after my CK before trying any of the poses and I was pleasantly surprised that I could still do it.  I think it would really help you with balance if you stick with it - part of it is being able to focus and using your stomach muscles.  Matti it is worth a try and just go at your own pace.

I cheated a little lastnight at dinner, we went out for Mexican, I had some chips  :(  - but I am down another pound today.   :)  We had dinner with the in-laws (this is why I didn't join you on the call).

Did the Cheeky Bloke dial in?

Hey folks,
Maybe we should change the weigh-in to Friday or something--a lot of us, myself included seem to do a better job of disciplining ourselves during the week! I seem to be losing the same pound over and over and over and over and over again.  It is the pound I gain on the week-end and lose by Friday!!!!

Me too Capt. Deb, I keep gaining and losing the same 2 lbs. Down two by Friday, up two by Monday. I am all for weighing in on Friday's.

Want some of that natural artistic talent of yours. Several years ago I took a painting course in the Bob Ross style because it looked easy. Not so easy  :( :(  Took up stained glass, did good with that  :)

Yes CB called in and of course was charming!  I'd expect nothing less for our Phyl!

Ok, so we need to start a  new thread for friday weight in...either way I'm not losing anything  LOL

I do fake stain glass  LOL  Would love to learn real stain glass.  Heck I watched enough of the process during recovering I  thought I could do that and make awesome stuff with polymer clay.  NOT  LOL  Now you guys would have had a great laugh when I convinced my mom I needed polymer clay and I could barely dress myself.  It was one of those things they just got funnier and funnier.  I'd watch HGTV and decide..I can do that and then spend a day trying to convince my mom I could...heck I couldnt' even cook my own dinner  LOL ;D

Well, y'all, I took up knitting during my recovery--I just had to do something with my hands besides eat or pick my nose. The knitting was great therapy--I even ended up with a little scarf business and made some money--not enough to pay for all the yarn Dr. Love bought me, but I think we broke even. All I could make were scarves cuz I couln't count stitches or follow a pattern. All the relatives got great Xmas gifts.

I can crochet, but for the life of me, I can't knit. Tried again a few weeks ago and keep having problems with yarn tension. It is either too lose or too tight. Thinking of taking a knitting class at the local community center.

Made the decision to take my Weight Watcher leaders advice and set my environment up for success. Got rid of the junk food, made a huge pot of veggie soup and other snacks that will get me though the week. She keeps teling me "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail". Hope she is right.

Also been working in the garden all morning, burning some calories. Certainly not burning as much as our Phyl has  ;)  Lucky girl  :-*

I'm all for Friday...I've been good this week, but weighed myself this morning and I'm a couple up...I think I've got Suzanne's pounds.

I'm supposed to be dropping 10 lbs for vacation...and that's not happening.  The only good news is my foot is getting better...on it all day yesterday and it's just a little stiff today.  I need to go grocery shopping and buy out the carrots and yogurt isle.

Hi, Happy Monday! :P

I am good for Friday's too.  Had a bad weekend, but overall lost 4 pounds last week.  Afraid to weigh myself this morning as I am sure I gave some back.

I am thinking about making deep fried oreo's this morning - probably not a good thing - but they sound yummy.   Maybe I'll go look at my fat girl pictures - that should do the trick.

Happy Dieting.

Suzanne - Deep fried oreo's? sounds interesting, what is the recipe?

Wow! 4 lbs that is awesome  ;D.  I am doing good so far, but it is only 2pm and my evenings are the hardest. I need to disassociate food with TV, then I would be Ok.

Hi y'all
Weighed in at 129 this AM--don't know if it's a loss or not as my weight fluctuates so much--I would consider 126 a definite loss.
Had another visit from the migraine fairy Sat night >:( >:( >:(--worse migraine I've had in over a year. 2 Zomigs up the scnozz and nothing--guess I didn't take it in time. I had taken a walk with Dr. Love and Ursa and came back with a little headache, which I totally ignored and then decided to stretch a canvas after cooking dinner (THAT'll teach me to cook dinner!)Did a Zomig after that. Phyll and Da Bloke called around 9:00 (I think) and my head was really pounding and by 10:00 I was in really bad shape.  Dr. Love wanted to take me to the ER but, as I have done that a few times already, I really didn't want to tolerate the 1/2 hour drive.  The nausea was about the worse I've ever had. Took 2 Compazines which didn't kick in at all it seems--I get so stressed, my stomach quits digesting.  Calling the doc this week about Compazine-up-the-you-know-what.

Anyway--I didn't get to sleep till about 4:00AM and then stayed in bed all day Sunday.  Went to my workout today, but I'm still a little wonkyheaded so I cut it short--then went to the dentist for a 2 1/2 hour crown prep--THAT was fun.

Well, I'm just wiped out.  I have to be a little grateful, because I would get one like this at least once a week and my last really "big big" one was  months ago.  I can't believe I survived all that crap!

Thanks for reading (listening) y'all. Should be back to my old feisty self by tomorrow!

Fried Oreos? Yep, my kinda snack... not! :)

Ok, I refuse to weigh in this Friday as my weight will incriminate me!  BUT, have done real well on trying to curb the appetite since my CB left  :'(.  Also waiting for Decacrap to get out of my system... btw, how long does it take to get rid of it outta your system? Anyone know?

I was told about 2 weeks....not sure if there is any difference with the amount in your system.  I'm thinking that 2 weeks is the standard they tell you since they told me the same about the other meds (different doctors too)

Green tea is the best! I drink it all day--I make a concoction of green tea, red zinger, raspberry zinger or whatever herbal I have on hand. I really think green tea helps control cravings, too. ( No......no.....not THOSE kind of cravings ya wenches---FOOD cravings!  Jeeez!)

Post by: Captain Deb on May 20, 2006, 11:14:57 am
Well,
I really don't know WHAT day we're weighing in, now!!
I have managed to polish off ALL the choccie in the whole house post-birthday--yup...yup....yup....licked the cake pan, the dark choclate bar wrapper, and yup...yup....even the box that the truffles came it.....not a molecule of choccie remains in my house and now I can chase away those 5 lbs I gained over my week-long birthday celebration. I really don't understand how you can gain 5 pounds by eating 2 pounds of something---the math just don't compute!
Anyway, your dear captain is back on track and trying to get fit (again)--I made it to the gym THREE times this week--A record for me!!! I was wiped out yesterday and took a 4 hour nap!

It's amazing that after three 1/2 years post-op my balance continues to improve.  Stuff that Marshall had me doing a month ago when I started that was REALLY difficult has gotten lots easier--like stuff on the excercise ball and lunges.  I believe that the stuff you do to improve balance is cumulative and when you don't use it you lose it!  It's like an athlete trains--keeping what residual balance systems you have in shape is an ongoing thing.
I think that has been what has kept Maryjane in such great shape--being active on the boat and all. Maybe I should start a vestibular excercise thread? Or make copies of all my PT stuff and mail it out.  Be glad to do that for anyone.

Anyway...........131! but at 5'2" and very small boned that's still a little chunkier than I like to be. I never gained a lot of weight during my 2 1/2 year non-stop migraine because I had to eat Dr. Love's cooking and I felt extremely nauseous most of the time. I actually lost 15 lbs.  Not from his cooking--from the migraines! I lived on stoned wheat crackers (Which I never got stoned offa no matter how many I ate!) and Progresso Chicken soup, when I could get it down.
I porked up to about 139 when the headaches started to get better and I didn't want to die anymore and felt like living again.

It's good to have myself back again--warts, wrinkles, cellulite, and all!!!!

Tony why a "high protein" diet?

I've done more protein than carbs for years and I'm still fat fat fat....no matter what I do or don't do it's not making any changes....

I am only guessing here - but if you lose 35 LBS in 5 five weeks on the "gain" diet
- what exactly would happen if you had the "normal" food ?????
Kinda tough isnt it - to survive 4 neuro-ops......... then die of malnutrition....

When thinghs get tough, they seem to just multiply and its difficult to see the light so perhaps turn it around and say, hey, I've saved someone lotsa time through my research and knowledge and have provided a view on direction for that person. I reckon you have done your fair share of that.
