Title: Information about "Thermal Eyes"
Post by: ToddH on September 10, 2009, 05:19:38 am
There was a woman at the symposium, I think from the west coast, who talked a lot about (and recommended highly) something she used at night called Thermal Eyes. Does anyone know about this? I tried a Google search, but it is just a company with a lot of products and I don't know specifically what she was referring to. I don't think wearing glasses at night is an answer...
I have someone I'm treating (non-AN patient) who has both eyes open wide at night when she is sleeping, so she has to lube and tape, but still has had 3 corneal ulcers so far. Any info. is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Todd

Todd,    Her name is Mary and think she is from Chicago area.      I know last name too but won't add here.       She showed me outsiide it earlier too and was showing it off to anyone she could.            Wonder if you could get her address from the ANA since you are a facial therapist and  can make use of it well.   I will keep trying to think if she said where it was from as my memory isn't super anymore.                                          Cheryl R

Todd you might also look up Tranquil Eyes. I know Amazon.com carries this product and it might also work for your patient.

Todd:  I have 1 eye that stays open when I sleep,  I can't imagine both ! !  I use a product called NITEYE Bubble bandage (the dry eye comforter).  It's basically a plastic bubble with adhesive around it - it gives you the 'greenhouse effect - moisture builds inside the shield while you sleep (howevery it doesn't help with closing the eye).        I buy them by the case now (saves me alot of $).
They come 14 per box, I get the nonsterile ones.  A box costs about $25.00.  They're made by Medtronic.  To place an order the tel. # is:  1-800-874-5797.
The people are really nice - 1st they give you a customer # then you call back the next day & place your order.  My eye doesn't fully close with taping.
I recently tried the 'Glad & Seal' from glad wrap but it didn't work for me (it does work for another forumite).  I (knock wood) never had a corneal ulcer.  I use Refresh PM lubricant/ointment exclusively (eye drops don't work for me).  I also bought/tried the Tranquil eyes but it put too much pressure on my eyeball.
I wish your client all the best.
Always good thoughts,  Nancy

There is a company called Eye Eco, which makes both "Tranquileyes" moisture goggles, and "Thermoeyes" gel packs for use with the goggles. Sounds like it might be it. The web site is here:

I stumbled across The Dry Eye Zone Website www.dryeyezone.com and purchased several wonderful items. They have a great deal of information available on the products, use them themselves and are very open to quesstionsl. They also have a chat area concerning Dry Eye.

I purchased the Tranquileyes kit that has the sponges you can moisten and insert into the eye coverings. They must be washed regularly to prevent infection developing. The set I have convers both eyes =complete darkness -- and has the best headband -- comfortable and adjustable. The price seemed quite reasonable for what the product proved to be. I have not purchased the Thernal Eyes, although I've read about them. When my budget allows, I'll buy, as they also are a wonderful help. In the meantime I fill a ziplock sandwich bag with warm./hot tap water and rest it on my eyes -- helos with sinuses too.

Here is the link for the Tranquileyes -- you'll enjoy browsing the online store http://store.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=tdec&StoreType=BtoC&Count1=709163844&Count2=626304268&CategoryID=58&Target=products.asp (http://store.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=tdec&StoreType=BtoC&Count1=709163844&Count2=626304268&CategoryID=58&Target=products.asp)

I'm headed now to purchase the single eye Tranquileye kit (noted for sties, but as I usually just have the one monster eye, this way the eye is protected and I can still use my good eye to see with. My brain is tired now -- signing off! Claudia/Alice Rapunzel

Claudia:  I hope the Tranquil Eyes work for you - they put too much pressure on my eyes so I had to stop using them.   Nancy

Hi Phyl, yes we met at the dinner! You won an award for your service... Congrats again!
The woman I requested info. for hasn't yet returned to clinic, but I sent her information from your suggestions (think she may have already tried Tranquileyes) and will talk to her more at next visit. Thanks for the input!

Nancy, Hi I'm back... that info. you posted about NITEYE Bubble bandages that you use: is there information from Medtronics about them online? The woman is still having a lot of trouble (the doctor thinks it's a psych issue, I don't.... you know sometimes you just want to shake these docs) and I want to give her this information now (knowing that you weren't helped by Tranquileyes, but were by these).
Thank much,
Todd

Hi Todd:  I'm a ditz on the computer,  but doc had posted a picture of it - I don't remember what the subject was....  but I think it is under Eye Issues.
I can't even remember how I found it - maybe I googled eye moisture chamber or something ? ?
Good luck,  always good thoughts, Nancy
I JUST FOUND IT:   THE TOPIC IS GOLD WEIGHT IMPLANT  started by doctorb, the website & picture of the NITEYE bubble is on the 1st page.
