Title: muscle shortened?
Post by: cin605 on May 12, 2009, 06:02:34 pm
Today at the chiropractor he was checking out the range of motion of my head.He asked me to look side to side then up n down.
When i looked up i noticed some thing very strange,my head points to the right the side i had surgery on.I asked him what he thought of this & he said the muscle on the right is shorter becouse the surgeon cut through it & then reconnected it.
I found it interesting no one ever noticed this before.Neaurologist, primary care.physical therapist, ent, head n neck specialist ect..
Any one have the same??I also realized yesterday while reading surgery notes that it was retrosig instead of translab am in afog or what???wait do not reply this part!!! ;D

Before surgery, my physician mentioned how some surgeons cut the muscle, while he prefered to "disconnect" and peel them back (yuck!).  In any case, he believed it cuts down on muscle pain later, and I had none after surgery.  I don't think I have one side shorter than the other, but then I haven't really looked :).

At my post-op appointment, I asked my doctor if neck muscles were cut or stretched. He said both.  :o
I don’t have the mobility in my neck that I had before and am hoping that PT will help with that.
