Well, here are the pics of my rowing class...on the Chattahoochee River at about 5 months post-op. We had a great time and I learned so much...but much more to learn! Oddly enough, my wonkiness didn't bother me near as much doing this as it does playing tennis. I'm looking forward to a great summer on the river! Nancy Mc, feel free to critique my form :-* Two of the ladies with us, the stroke and number 4, were experienced rowers, but the rest of us were very much newbies.
Oh, I'm the one in the white tank top in between the girl in the pink shirt and the one in the black shirt (bow).
So sorry that they are huge...just can't figure out how to reduce them...I'll put one on the Pics of Friends thread if I ever figure out how to get it smaller ???

Hey Cindy!
Looks like you're having a blast AND staying fit! And what a scenic place to do it!
It's great to see you're doing so well. (Makes me wonder what you'll be taking on at 6 months post-op. ;))
Thanks for sharing the pics!

I like the goose in picture #2 (apologies if I have not identified the water fowl correctly). It is checking you guys out, and saying to itself, "Geesh! And you guys think I look funny when I walk..." ;D
Great pictures, looks beautiful. I am loving spring time.

Cindy,
Those pictures should not be smaller--they are great just the way they are. I also was amused by the goose/duck. Good for you, keep it up, and don't unintentionally hit anyone with your paddle.
Best,
M

OAR!

Oh, oar, not paddle, so sorry. What do you expect from a city girl?

Cindy -- Very cool!!!! And so glad you didn't have the wonky-headedness. Like you, I found that stuff on land (football) was much more difficult that on the water (kayaking) with the exception of getting out of the kayak -- a total mess.
Where on the Hooch was that? Roswell Landing? I remember that part of the river well from the running trail by the river.

Hey, all...Phyl/David, this was on the Roswell part of the river...close to the Holcomb Bridge exit on 400...
Goose/duck??? not sure, but lot's of poo on the dock from whatever they are!
Not hitting people with the OAR, is quite a challenge when you're carrying them around on land - I was very afraid I was going to knock someone off the dock!
NancyMc, I'll try to keep the shoulders relaxed :D, NancyL, I hope to try riding a horse next - never ridden a horse - should be interesting!

Looks like a Canada Goose to me. They live at the Jersey Shore year round now (they don't bother to migrate anymore) and are very, very messy. When they first started appearing around here some 25 -30 years ago everyone thought they were cute; now they're considered a major pest. Border collies can keep them away for a while ... but they always come back.

Cindy~
Sorry I have missed this until now - WAY TO GO, GIRL!!!! I went white water rafting a couple of summers ago and ABSOLUTELY loved it!! I found it wonderful to be doing something like that again - I thought the water seemed to make it easier - I guess it has something to do with SITTING instead of standing!! I told Dave that ANYTIME we were somewhere that offered something like that, I wanted to do it!!
ENJOY!!

Donnalynn, we were rowing three times a week for our lessons. I hope to continue to row at least twice a week...
You guys are all so sweet - I don't feel like this was really that much of an accomplishment...especially compared to our awesome standup paddleboarders, Stoneaxe and JB! But, I did want to let other newbies, pre-posties and just turned-posties see another example of how life can indeed go on...and quite well...after AN treatment.
Now, to wrangle/lasso/catch me a horse to ride...

Yeehaw.
You may be too young to remember this, Cindy. But off hand do you remember the Chattahooche Raft Race back in the 70's. I have a very blurry recollection of starting the race at Holcome Bridge. Great memories from what I seem to recall.
