I've noticed that most people have AN on the left side? May be I'm incorrect...however, I had it on the left side (I'm right handed). My boss had it on his left side also.
Wonder if we have a stats for this...just curious.

I'm right handed, and my AN was on my right side.

I'm left handed and my tumor is on the left.
I'm adjusting but it's awkward holding the phone up to my right ear...

Right-handed, left-sided (hemangioma). I am relieved to have it on the opposite side because it prevents me having to worry about whether cordless or cell phone contributed -- never have held phone to left ear!
-
I think we've done this previously on the forum, but I'll play.
Right handed, AN was in left IAC.

I'm right-handed, my AN is on my left. Easier that way.

Right handed, right-side AN. I don't like holding the phone on my left!!
-
Left handed, right sided AN... I don't like holding the phone in my right hand so I can still write with my left while I'm on the phone! Will have to get a fancy headset when I get back to work to avoid this!
-
Good point - multi-tasking!

Hey Anissa,
Best wishes for Wednesday. You will rock it. 8)
As they say on Family Feud, "And the survey says: " (meaning the 2007-2008 ANA patient survey, as reported in the Dec 2008 Newsletter) :
51% Left, 49% Right.
On the lighter side, the comparison survey in 1998 had it at 51% Left, 47% Right. Apparently 2% back then were in the Middle. ;D

Right handed...left side AN...hate holding phone to right ear...it was always left so I could craddle it with shoulder and use my right hand to write...I can still hear from the left ear when talking on phone, but everyone sounds like Donald Duck.
Anissa...Good luck tomorrow..my prayers are with you...I'm six days after you.
JO ;D

Right handed left side AN. Seems to be pot luck! Mickey
-
according to the study of An;s finished in 2007, 49 % were on the left side, 51 % on the right side.
this was across all age groups too and pretty well ruled out any cellphone problems as reported often in the press.
there were also an appreciable amount of AN's above 1 inch / 2.5 cm in length........
-
Thanks to all those who have replied. It seems pretty split, sorry that I did not know about the survey being done before. No obvious pattern here either.
Thank you.

right handed, left AN

Right handed, right AN.

Left-handed (hence my handle). Right side AN.

Right-handed, left side AN, always used to use left ear for the phone.

Left-handed, left AN, and left ear for the phone....I'm having a really hard time adjusting to holding the phone to my right ear!!! Very awkward!!!
-
Kathy -
I couldn't agree more.
I find this especially aggravating at work. I used to hold the phone on my left and use my right hand to write, type, use my calculator, etc. Can't do that any more :P

It's kind of funny in an aggrevating sort of way, but while I was away from work, they remodeled and completely changed around our operations area. Previously, the phone was off to the left of where I sit. Since I'm right side SSD now, and have always used my right hand and ear, I figured the phone on the left would make it easier for me to adjust anyway. Well, now the phone has been moved to the right side of the desk :). Doh! >:(

Did you attempt another day of work today/yesterday? Dave's mom said it was very dark down there.
Hope you're easing in to the stimulus of the weather biz.

Oh yeah, I'm back full time now. I work tomorrow (today) 2 PM to 10 PM, then off Thursday. I start nights Friday night (10 PM to 6 AM) and have 6 of those in a row.

Well, now the phone has been moved to the right side of the desk :). Doh! >:(
UGH!! Ask them to switch things around for you - it's your right as a "disabled" person. Seriously.
After my AN surgery - before I got my BAHA - people were constantly coming into my office and, because of the way my desk was situated, talking to my "bad" ear. So a few weeks later I asked my boss if we could move things around in my office. He was glad to accomodate me and things became must easier.
Jan
-
Hi Jan,
They would most likely try to accomodate me, but I prefer to adapt to my surroundings. Maybe it's silly, but I prefer, at least for now, to live as if my AN has never happened :)
Ernie
-
I wouldn't say that's silly, but I will say good luck.
Accomodating to my surrounds, while noble, just wasn't going to cut it for me.
I make a living at work - and in my job a lot of what is said is said quietly due the confidential nature of it - I couldn't continue to just nod my head and agree with others when I couldn't hear them.
Hopefully your work situation and job duties will be easier to adapt to than mine were.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hi bpham .... I'm also late, cause my alarm clock malfunctioned ::)
Greg -
are you sure you just didn't hear it? This happens to me all the time when I sleep on my "good" ear ;D
Sorry for the SSD joke - and the bad humor - I just couldn't walk away from a comment like that. It was irresistable ;)
Jan
-
YOWZA ..... good one Jan! ;D Not bad SSD humor at all ! I guess after 5400+ posts .... and reading a plethora more .... you have an easy time with humorous replys ...... thanks!
Early Saturday (~ 3:30 am) I slept thru a nearby auto accident (lotta tire screech & bang) that woke my wife and most people in the cul-de-sac .... no doubt my SSD ear was up.
Keep the :D ;D 's coming .... where possible and allowed, of course.
Greg
-
Actually being able to sleep through things like screeching auto accidents is one of the big advantages of being SSD ;)
-
I am Left handed and had my AN on my Left side, over a year later and still pick the phone up and put it to my deaf left ear lol ;D

Right handed - right sided AN.

Ok,
We need Steve, Phyl or Jim to keep track for us. According to the lasted newsletter, it was pretty even with who had left AN's and who had right but most that responded were women.
