I had a 3cm An taken out back at the end of 2006 , I have not felt good, extremely tired, ever since. Does anyone else still feel bad after this long after surgery??? ???    Hope everyone is having better times than I  have.     thank you ,linny

Linny:

I am very sorry you are not feeling well and do hope you feel better soon.  I am only 3 weeks post-op so I am not able to talk from experience. I am sure some of the others will chime in.  I was told by an AN patient that her doctor told her that it could take a year or longer for her to recover. If you had two surgeries I would think it would take you longer. One thing I do know is AN recovery is unique to eash individual.   You did have two surgeries with complications so it could take you some time to fully recover.

Give yourself the time it needs to recover and don't push yourself too hard and don't be hard on yourself. Your body has been through a great deal of trauma.

Wishing you well wishes,
 Sonja

Have you also had a regular physical with blood work to check fotr thyroid, anemia, normal potassium and any other possible problems.       That can be a factor occ also so is good to have it checked out.                         Do you make sure and drink enough fluids as dehydration can cause fatigue?      On any meds which can cause it?                  No fun to be so tired and hope you will feel better in time.                           Cheryl R

I have to pace myself as well. I still deal with fatigue on a regular basis. My surgery was 2 yrs ago.

So sorry to hear of your ailments. I had my surgery June 06 and YES, I sometimes just feel like doodoo. Have to pace myself. I work part time, my kids are older which is good. I require 8 hours of sleep (which I usually only get 7 ), a nap during the day. My ailments include the deafness and loud tinnitus in the deaf ear. Equilibrium off when I overdo it. I do get  MAD. I want to do so much more, but will have to just pace and accept my limitations.
Hang in there- I know how you feel. And for me I figure I'll always have to deal with these sucky side affects.
Feels good to complain.
THANKS! :-\
Smilin on the right,
Maureen

Linda ~

It always saddens me to learn that a long-term post-op AN patient is still having difficulties.  Fatigue is pretty common.  I know I don't have the same energy level I used to have, but I attribute some of that to my age (66).  Sometimes, normalcy is simply adjusting to what is but I know we all want to feel better when it hurts.  I'll pray for better days for you, Linny.  :)

Yeah, Linney, make sure it's not something else.  Don't jump to conclusions that it is the AN causing you so much distress.  It may be, but then, maybe it's something else.  Not sure if that's comforting or not, though.  See a headache specialists too.  They might be able to help you.

Hang in there,
