Steve, you are too much! Thank you! Great job... and see, my "ensemble" matches! ;)
Domo arigato gozaimasu tomadachi! :)

So cool Phyl! And Steve, btw, green is my favorite color this year, and it is still cold enough to wear a knit hat here. Not that I'm hinting or anything. 8)

OMG!, Is that cool or what? Steve is amazing!! What a doll.

Wow, that's great! Love the color! Steve, your production line is knocking these hats out pretty quickly - I'm impressed!
Thanks so much for modeling for us, Phyl!

Up here in the "Great White North" we call that hat a toque. I'd love red or purple if the toque fairy is listening ::)
Anne Marie
-
We call it a beanie down here in Australia! Steve - I've just got to sew mine together now - It doesn't look as good as yours though!
-
I love it, Phyl!!!! Wow, Steve! This is a really cool family.
-
Steve,
That is it -we have to get a photo of the entire PDX ANA group in knitted toques now!
I sure needed a toque this morning as the Canadian snow front, that blew in, surprised all us "west coast (weather) wimps"- this morning.
He writes poetry, knits hats ... us PDX'ers are lucky ones indeed to have such a Renaissance man as our Sunny Disposition Steve. :)
Pearly Whites ;D - that hat looks great on you!

although I'm partial to my green hat, compliments of Steve, yours looks wonderful too!
I can't believe how talented he is!

I was wondering who got the "pastel" hat in the other type of yarn he was referring to...I don't think I care what color, I just want a hat - I'm kind of feeling left out here. Should I start the "Lonely Hats Club"??? ::)
K :'(
-
Don't lose faith, Kay.
I have a feeling that Steve is just getting started ;)
And I'm certain your name is on the list!
Jan

Phyl:
Nice hat. I'm impressed with Steve's knitting ability and productivity. Gals usually look good in those knit hats and you're no exception, Phyl. :) Thanks for the photo.
Jim
-
I think Steve has beat us at our money making schemes Jan and Kay! What were we thinking?
Phyl you look devine in your pretty pastel ensemble!
I think we'll have to come up with a new challenge for Steve... he can't be good at EVERYTHING, can he? ;D
Lori

Another great hat!
Syl

Steve certainly knows how to warm the hearts (and heads) of the ladies on here! WTG, Steve!!!
I think your avatar photo should include you in your hat. Hey, I think everyone who gets a hat from Steve should wear it in their photo!
-
Great job on the hat! Phyl, darling, you look great!
Regards,
Brian
-
Phyl,
You are beautiful and I could never pull off a hat in my life!
Steve,
My Granny would have enlisted you in her knitter's brigade with your spectacular workmanship..........a fine knitter you are! I'm sure you knit fine healing properties into those knit one pearl two's.
Hugs to you both!

Thanks all for the kind words... I look like crap! Felt lousy this week and end of day (you can see the fatigue set in.....) but... I took Scooby's hint... new avitar piccie!
*groans*
Can I airbrush the pic? It stinks of me!
Phyl
-
Aw Phyl~
It is not bad & when you feel better, you can throw the hat on and take another pic! ;D Sorry you had a rough week, but I bet that surprise in the mail made it a little better!
Love ya!
K

Phyl,
Up close you can see a little of the bleary eyed look of a moderator who has been pouring over all the new posts again. Dedication has its price!
The small avatar picture hides all that, though, and looks fine. No worries. :)
Steve
-
Phyl,
You look beautiful, now I know why you have a new picutre. Steve this could be your new job, knitting hats for all of us!! My favorite color is maroon.

Great hat, love the color.
Steve you do beautiful work.

Phyl: You're beautiful, fatigue & all ! ! & Steve is right about the avitar picture.
Always good thoughts, Nancy
(heck, I'm beautiful, paralysis & all !).

great hats and great picture ...
I hate my picture made especially since surgery and the extra
pounds I have gained through inactivity... or rather less active activities...

I was presented this lovely hand knit RED "toque" by Steve at an ANA meeting. Such a sweetie is "our Steve"... a great guy to have in a club. :-* :) The workmanship in the knitting is excellent. Warms me right up :) does this hat - knit by Sunny Disposition Steve.
Merci beaucoup,

What a delightful disguise, Daisy Head "Charlie Chaplin" Maisy! ;D

DHM: A Groucho Marx fan I see ! !
Beautiful ! Always good thoughts, Nancy

Hi,
A lovely photo Phyl! You don't look fatigue at all!
You're so fantastic Steve! In the beginning I thought you were joking, but I realize you don't. :D
Best wishes,
Helene in Sweden
-
OMG Steve! You are just mass-producing these hats, aren't you??
Where do you find time to knit? Did you quit your day job? Between working, moderating, and knitting I'm wondering if you get any sleep at all :o
Jan
-
Jan,
The funny thing is I posted my blue hat on January 27th. It has already been a month, and I have 3 of them out there. Not exactly fast mass production, anyway, not even 1 a week. Time flies when you are having fun. :)
Steve
-
My daisy maisy! You look simply maaah-velous! Disguise and all! :) LOL!
thanks all.... I'll pull the hat over my eyes to hide the fatigue and circles and wrinkles and hope my Oil of Olay kicks in soon! :)

Good point. It just seemed much faster than that. I guess I'm just impressed that anyone can knit 4 hats in approximately 30 days. It usually takes me a few months just to sew on a button. Of course, the first 50 days or so the garment in need is just laying around the house waiting for me to find my needle and thread and make the commitment to get the job started.
I'm not exactly "domestic". Can you tell?
Jan
-
Jan~
Instead of "Domestic Goddess" - we'll just leave off the "Domestic" and call you the "Goddess." How's that?? ;D
Steve~
So glad you figured out about that little world icon!!

Hi all,
After marvelling at Steve's hat knitting I decided to learn how to knit so I've got something to do for the first month or so post op, so here is my pre-op hat and scarf:
It's a bit more "rustic" looking than Steve's but it does the job... very warm, which is why I only had it on to take the picture and then off again... bit too hot down here in Aus for that kind of thing just now! I'm going to send it to my friend in the UK so she can keep herself warm.
Cheerio!
-
Hey, Joebloggs,
Have I told you how brutal winter has been for my headaches? So brutal that all I asked for this past x-mas were hat & scarf sets.
I can always use more in different colors.
Syl
-
JB, you are hired! The hat and scarf look great, and you are looking bright eyed and glowing as well. Very nice! 8)
Okay, Syl, I got the hint. ;)
Steve
-
Beautiful picture, Joe. You look so happy ;D
The hat and scarf are great - wonderful color for you, too.
I say keep them and knit your friend another set ;)
Jan aka "The Goddess" - funny, Kaybo!
-
I wish I could join in, but all the knitting would make my hands hurt. :( It's a great hobby. I'm jealous!! :D

Glad you like them! I think Steve is probably a faster knitter than I am so your best bet might be him Syl!!! I've got a scarf on the go for a bloke at the moment, so will see how I go with that! Gee wool is expensive though! I think all the wool for the hat and scarf cost about AUS$40 which is about US$25. I probably wouldn't pay $40 for a hat and a scarf like mine so I don't know how anyone would ever make any money from knitting! It's a nice thing to be able to do for people though! I do look happy in that picture don't I? Must be happy with my knitting! My friend has very similar colouring as me so I will probably still send them to her... she needs them, it's cold in the UK! And Sue, it hurts my hands too, just because I'm not used to using my hands in this way I think, hopefully I will get used to it once I'm doing it for a while!
See how lucky I am, if I didn't have an AN I probably wouldn't have been making scarves and hats!
Fun fun!!!
-
JB,
fantastic job! Truly! Ok, I admit, I knit and crochet but you all (you and Steve) have done a fabulous job.... will post later a piccie of my crochet work.... got me an afgan on my bed (granny square)..... Just like AN'ers doing crossword puzzles and Sudoko and such for focus and mind exercises, I wonder if needlework does the same as well?
Great job, JB! Looks great!
Phyl
-
Yeah Phyl it probably does - I think knitting and crafty stuff is good for concentration and memory and all that. I'm doing brain training on my Mum's nintendo DS at the moment and it will be interesting to see how I compare post op!
-
Oh my goodness, all these self taught knitters....you make it look so easy! I guess I'm just a slow learner. :-[
But Phyl, thanks for pointing out the crossword puzzle thing - I'm a pro at those! I was starting to worry that my brain had already turned to mush! Now I know it's actually just sortof thick oatmeal. :D
JB - you do look great!
Lori

I am finally off the Blackberry and on my regular home computer where I can see pictures! What magnificent toques and signs and all! Love the Groucho Daisy Head! You look Luvery in Lavender Dahling Pearly girly!
Our Scallywag Steve-o has figgered out how to knit wiv one hand and scroll wiv the other! Bravo!

Steve,
If I ever have to have surgery, would you knit me a hat????
LisaP ;D
PS My favorite color is maroon
-
I think Steve should set up a vendor's booth at the symposium and auction off his knitted hats as a ANA fundraiser.
LOL ;) :D
A teal colored hat - hand knitted by moderator Sunny Disposition Steve. Ok $300... $350... going once twice ... do I hear $500 ... yes $500 going once, twice, three times ... to the lovely lady with the tinnitus and AN tumor removal. Sold. Yes ladies and gentlemen a rare find are these hats by such a unique and gifted artist..."
Oh teasing you Steve ... I would never part with my precious "toque" for any price. Even my teenager had her eye on it ... "that is mine ... it is not to go to high school ... mine!!!!"
I'll bet though that it will be fashionably hip to be near the Drake hotel in August and there are all these distinguished guests dressed in knitted hats. Just think this amazing cultural trend was started by our very own Steve. :-* ;) :-*
:D DHM :D ;) :) ;D
-
If I ever have to have surgery, would you knit me a hat????
Please don't have surgery just to get a hat. ;D
I am working my way through the list, based on participation on the forum, I guess. I have been looking out for a good maroon yarn, too. ;)
Steve
-
so, if I make it to the symposium... it's my lavander toque covering my brain-boogered head and me pirate eye patch covering me poor, old eye! :) Works for me!
Phyl

This has all the makings of a "cult"! *stealing from DHM's idea....*
Associated Press CHICAGO
" People gathering together with the same hat on their head, in a multitude of colors, chanting, "What?", "Huh?", "Pardon me?", have taken over Chicago. A few are sporting eye patches and keep saying "Arrrr". This is an alarming and unusual event in the Windy City, and the locals don't quite know what to make of it. This reporter tried to get a statement from one man, who seems to be the instigator of all of this, but couldn't get near him because he was too busy passing out knitted hats. Authorities have been notified."

Maroon did I hear Maroon???? My favorite colour...Well kind of a mix between burgendy and maroon...I'm just learning to knit. So far so good...made grandkids some booties, two prs of slippers and tons of those knitted dishcloth...will soon try a hat.
JO ;D

Knitting of my second scarf is going well, although I did lie to the air stewardess today when I said I didn't have anything pointy in my hand luggage on my flight today... I figure if they check I'll just feign innocence... I didn't realise knitting needles were a weapon - I'm so sorry! I'm such a bad girl, living on the edge, what a knitting rebel!
-
Well, we wouldn't want you knitting a hat for the airplane pilot! You traveling troublemaker!! :D
Lori

Steve
Thanks for thinking of me, believe me, I have no plans of having surgery unless I have to. I just think we could start a new fad!!!
