I had GK on Oct. 21, 2008. Had a follow-up MRI on 1/29/09. MRI indicated a slight decrease in size from 6.86 to 6.16. Not a lot of shrinkage, but this is only a little over three months post GK. Can't wait to see what happens when I have my next MRI in Oct., 2009. No change in hearing (same as before GK), and no balance issues. Postive news has helped me a lot mentally. Just a waiting game, but it looks positive. Thanks for everyone's support. NANCY C. ;D ;D ;D

Wondeful news, Nancy. Those are the kinds of things we love to hear. Shrinkage, no matter how small, is the right direction. Now go up and celebrate a great Valentine's Day today!

Nancy:
Congratulations on the good news! With all the angst you endured before your radiation, I'm so pleased to learn you're not only enjoying a good recovery but now, rapid shrinkage of the tumor. I trust this will continue. Thanks for sharing your positive news. :)

Hey Nancy,
Congrats on the news! As we know, the goal of radio-treatment is to stop the growth, not shrink it, but shrinkage definately works for me! :) Great news... continued wellness wishes to you!
Hang tough!

This is wonderful news. And even better that there are no hearing or balance issues. I am sure that the Oct 2009 MRI will give you even better news.

Thanks everyone for your kind responses. Over the phone the doctor's office said my AN was "shrinking", but the official written report says:
CONCLUSION: 1. VERY SLIGHT DECREASE IN THE SIZE OF THE LEFT INTERNAL AUDITORY CANAL ACOUSTIC SCHWANNOMA FROM 6.86 MM TO 6.16 MM.
2. REMAINING MR SCAN IS NORMAL
Sounds good to me!!!! However, they did find out that I had a sinus infection which maybe accounted for the weird sensations I was having in my head. Took my last antibiotics today so hope the infection and weird sensations are out of there.
