Title: Balance master
Post by: QRM on December 16, 2008, 07:29:50 am
I was just doing a bit of research on Vestibular Disorders and the local hospital say they have the latest "balance master" testing equipment. They claim by using it they can identify which area has been affected by the surgery and develop a personalized training regime that focuses on my particular type of disorder. Is this another money spinning gimmick or does it actually work any one used one before?

I just posted about this machine today. Its like a computerized fun house & the walls & floors move. They put a harness on you so you
do not fall & have you close your eyes whilethey move the floor...FUN..NOT SO MUCH.
The computer says i only have 25% of my vestubular working & every upright position is relying on my visual& feet alone...& my visual
is 60% instead of 100...that might explain the drunken walk & why i can not drive most days.

Bit like a bicycle, if you stop peddling you fall off,  I tried to book myself in for a test, can you believe it fully booked for the next 2 months!! must have a lot of wobbly people here.

I was back on the balance master today at vest rehab.I stood there & had to try & keep my balance & move a hotair ballon from one square to another on a computer screeen while the floor & walls moved.the ballon kept drifting way off.pt said my brain is not getting the right signals as to whats going on aroud me.Very frustrating.

That sounds like one of the Wii fit balance game, except the walls are not moving.
