Title: Gabapentin for ear pain? New Doctor Needed too
Post by: bern on December 10, 2008, 01:45:27 pm
Does anyone know how this drug works and what it does. I know it is an anti-convulsant but I hate to start another pill esp. if it is a pain med.  I also need a new doctor. I am not happy for the hospital I am being treated by.  I live in Harrisburg, Pa.  Does anyone know of a good neuro-surgeon? I had gamma knife in July and havent been well since.

Any advice will be appreciated.

It is neurontin which many has used for pain.    You are right it is an anti convulsant.        It varies with some side effects and adjustment to it and the dose but does help many a great deal in pain control.           I have had a brother in law who takes it for neuropathy with his diabetes and arthritis and had no side effects at all.           There will be some here who can tell you more.   It is used a great deal in many aspects.        I am a retired nurse and saw it used frequently.
