Hello All~
I will be in Houston and available to get together December 20-27 - I know that this is a VERY busy time of the year, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested...I will be in the Memorial area and can go wherever AS LONG AS I KNOW WELL IN ADVANCE (& it is not too terribly far) as I will not have my own car and there will be 13 people sharing the ones I will have access to! I will also need to make sure some other family member can watch my girlies! Let me know if there is any interest!
K ;D
-
Well, you know I am interested! I will have to see if I am am able to be out and about, but surely we can meet for lunch or something? My sweet daughter is giving up her Christmas vacation to take care of mom, so she will be "driving Miss Priss." :D
Priscilla

I think it sounds like a much needed break ! I'm in!! Just let me know when and where!
Brenda
-
I'm in too! It would be great to put names to faces (other than what's been shared here).. You know me, I'll be in the Cypress area of town, but I work near 290/43rd.. I'm available just about any time! Let's all do it!
Brian
-
OK ~ let's start putting this together & if someone else can join us great & if not, we will have a grand time with just us!! I guess in my mind, I was thinking the early part of the week BEFORE Christmas but I want to be considerate of night driving & work schedules...Brian, input, please-what is your work schedule? Also, we could probably go for the Saturday AFTER Christmas if y'all are going to be around then...We have plenty of time so let's brainstorm to get this right for everybody!! The longer we wait too, the longer Ms. Maggie will have post-op...just a consideration too...
K ;D
-
I generally work 9am - 6pm. If we go around here around lunch time, then I can just use some lunchtime to meet up. The weekend after Christmas, I will likely be out of town (visiting family in Austin) but nothing is set in stone yet. I do think we should consider MsMaggie's post-op length of time. I don't know about the rest of you, but it was several weeks before I felt lilke doing anything (MsMaggie could be way different than that).
How long will you be in town? What timeline are we looking at? Is it Dec 20-27? If so, I might be off the Friday (day after Christmas) and could possibly meet for lunch on that day before leaving town. Just a thought..
Regards,
Brian

I'm pretty open to days and times, except I don't have a night driving license.( my license is restricted! I feel like a teen again) I know how to navigate in the Memorial area (lived there for several years) and I also can get around pretty well in the Cypress area, since Msmaggie and I live fairly close and in the Southern end I would be more than happy to give her a ride. I'm not a bad driver in the daylight hours and I'm getting really good on the freeways again.
Brenda
-
OK - we need to really start putting this together - Brain, what does the day after Christmas look like for you & Jenni these days!! Brenda? I think that is looking pretty good - I think the only thing we have between Christmas & when we fly back is the Rockets game the night of the 27th. What about eveyone else? I think Waypoint (? - Softball boy) might try to join us too.
K ;D
-
The 26th sounds good to me. I haven't heard of any plans that would interfere.
Brenda
-
Dang it.... I'll be off in another direction (in the UK)......have a fantastic post-holiday meet up! Will look for the piccies!
Have a great time!

I'll be leaving town later that afternoon/evening, but lunch time on the 26th sounds good! I prefer something closer to where I work if we're doing lunch that day (I work at 290/43rd). Other than that, I'm not picky (except we don't do the 'eses.. japanese, chinese, etc.. you get the drift). I'm really not that difficult. Really. (Shhh! Don't say a word, Jan!). :)
Brian
-
I am definitely in, esp. w/Brendalu's offer to drive! I'm probably just up the freeway from her. Can't wait to meet the rest of the bunch!
Priscilla
-
Priscilla~
That is GREAT!!!! I have PMed for some suggestions close to work for him as Dave & I don't know that area. I can't wait to meet you guys!! ;D
K
-
I have replied with 4 suggestions. I can't wait to meet (or see again) you all too! Who all is going to go? So far, we have Kaybo (and Dave), Priscilla, Brenda, and me (and Jenni). Anyone else joining in the festivities? Surely there are more than 3 of us in the Houston area...(Waypoint comes to mind.)
Maybe we can get Phyl to fly around in the ANA Leer and pick people up and bring them? ;)
Regards,
Brian
-
I'm in the Houston area too and would love to meet you guys, but we're going to be in Oklahoma with family for Christmas and won't be back until the following week. I'll catch y'all next time.
Priscilla, it's great to read about your successful outcome and recovery sounds like it's going well. Take it easy.
Merry Christmas and happy new year to all you guys.

Hey yall. I'm in Houston too... at least the rest of this year. Count me in. The 26th sounds pretty good, I think the Mrs. is gonna be out shopping and returning gifts. I actually live on the NW side 290/Jones and can meet up with yall whereever yall decide. Looking forward to it. Just let me know. Merry Christmas.

290/Jones?!?! Wow! I used to live there in '96! Now, I live 290/Cypress-Rosehill area (a little further out than you). You're so close!
So, we have:
Kaybo and Dave
Pooter and Jenni (possibly)
Brendalu
MsMaggie
Waypoint
Anyone else gonna join the fun? It sure will be nutty with all the deal-hoppers out too!
Regards,
Brian

I am CRAZY trying to get everyone packed and ready to go - I will write again after we get there - we will (hopefully) leave for the airport at 3:30. If I can only GET THERE, I'll be good and can relax a bit. Addi has been sick all week with a horrible "fever" virus (104.5 Tuesday) so I've had that to deal with too. Thanks, Brian for taking the ball on this one!! Waypoint - SO glad you are going to join us! More later!

Good luck getting out of town! I hear there are "major delays" all over the country today.
For those that are sensitive to sound, I have 4 options for you to choose from. Since I'm not as sensitive to sound, any of them are fine with me:
1) Bravos Mexican (obviously Mexican food) at 290/Bingle
2) Logan's Roadhouse just past 290/Bingle (Everything Americana)
3) Pappadeaux (seafood) just past 290/Bingle
4) Pappasitos (Mexican) just past 290/Bingle
Bravos is probably the best bet for lack of noise, but it's cheaper Mexican than Pappasitos. Logan's (as MsMaggie can tell you) has everything from burgers to sandwiches, salads to steaks, seafood to peanuts (okay, so I couldn't think of anything else). Only caution is that if busy, Logan's can become loud (as can 3 and 4). Pappadeaux and Pappasitos are both higher end on the scale of food (and price) and can become loud if crowded.
Our thought was to have lunch at around 11 to try and beat some of the shopping/lunch crowd and because we heard thru the grapevine that earlier is better for MsMaggie. :)
You guys pick. Any of those places is fine with me.
Regards,
Brian

Brian~
Thanks for the heads-up for the travel - we'll call!!
Any place is great with us!
;D ;D ;D
K

Brian, I thought this AN thing was suppose to be rare 1 in 100,000. You're just gonna have to move further away. I just don't feel special anymore. Just kidding. I was gonna suggest Logan's Roadhouse but open to whatever yall decide.
-
Haha.. Funny, I was gonna tell YOU to move further away because *I* didn't feel special anymore.. ;) However, with 4.5 million in the Houston metro area, your 1 in 100,00 means there are 43 more of us in this area. Think we can get them ALL to move away?
Okay, 1 vote for Logan's. Brendalu and MsMaggie, you guys are an important voice as to where we go for lunch. Your vote matters. Don't be shy.
Anyone else? Anyone? Rumor has it that Phyl is taking the ANA Leer to the UK but will fly back (and around) the country to pick people up and bring them to Houston. Just ask her.
Regards,
Brian

Logans sounds fine to me and early is best for me
Brenda

Hi to all,
I actually don't have any time constraints. Last time it was because of family schedules, but I'm footloose and fancy free at his point. I did enjoy the food at Logan's and will probably order the same thing again :D
I'm looking forward to it! Are we still on for the 26th?
Priscilla
-
So, Logan's just past 290/Bingle (in front of the theater.. just past Hooters and TGIF) it is! How does 11 sound for those early is best?
We have 6 to 7 so far... Any other takers? Last chance.. Waypoint, are you bringing anyone with you?
Regards,
Brian

Is Nashville too far for Phyl to swing by with the private jet?
Sounds like you guys are in for a great time! Wish I could be there!!
Lori

Got it!! So excited!! Putting in our request for the use of a car - guess we can rent one if we have to! ;D
See you there!
Brian, I will try to PM cell number in case you need to call!
K
-
It will just be me. :) The wife will no doubt be shopping.
-
Okay. 290/Bingle-ish, Logan's Roadhouse at 11am on Friday (THIS Friday)! There should be about 6-7 of us (including spouses). Everyone be there or be square. :)
Lori, just ask Phyl to pick you up in Nashville. I'm sure it won't be a problem. ;)
Anyone who wants/needs my cell # just in case, PM me and I'll send it to you.
Regards,
Brian

Hey Everyone~
We had a GREAT time at lunch today - it was so great to SEE everyone!! Brenda was able to come after all so we were glad about that. Priscilla looks absolutely AMAZING for having had surgery only 2 weeks ago!! We took pictures, hopefully someone else (Brian??) can post those. (I can't download mine until I get back home.) I guess we looked like a bunch of camera geeks (Thanh was the only "cool cat") - HEY, maybe that is why those people kept staring (the cameras, not Thanh)!! ::) I hope I didn't atlk too much! I had a wonderful time - thanks for coming out to meet me - we'll have to do it again!

I'm sorry if the last two show up side-ways (for some reason I can't get them flipped right now).
Lunch was GREAT and FUN! I really enjoyed meeting everyone! We ate and talked for almost 3 hours! It was a great time!
Enjoy!

Hi to all,
We had a fabulous lunch that lasted 2 1/2 hrs. And no, you did not talk too much, Kay! We were all (maybe not Thanh :D) trying to talk all at the same time. I really felt like I was getting together with a bunch of old friends. We all looked wonderful, in my esteemed opinion. I had to go home and take a nap after it was all over. That was a lot of excitement for me, two weeks out from surgery. I so hope we can do that again when and if Kay and her sweetie come back in town in the spring. It meant so much to me to see everyone in person.

Hey, thanks for celebrating my birthday down there in Texas - that wasn't really necessary! ;D
I must say, besides looking like good fun and good food and good talk, it looks warm down there. Is that green stuff outside what they call grass? Haven't seen that in a while...
It is always great to see some smiling forumites getting together, thanks for posting the pics. You all look marvelous. :D

Hi!
As most of you know, my grand daughter has seizures. I guess Christmas was too much for her and she had one that knocked her out for well over 2 hours. (My daughter found her on the floor by the Christmas tree at about 4:15 am) I thought we were going to have to take my daughter to the hospital (she was a basket case) The EMT's (who get called whenever Paxie is out for more than an hour) got there and it took them about twenty minutes to bring her around. She is doing fine, but very disgusted that her countdown for her driver's license has to start over. She was four a half months without a seizure. She has to go six months.
I so enjoyed MsMaggie's company on the ride to Logan's Roadhouse and her navigational abilities on the way back! The group was a delight and I can't wait to do it again!!
and my newsletter was waiting for me when I got home, so I am filling out the paperwork to go to the symposium and put more faces with names!
Brenda
-
Yep, it was great to meet yall yesterday and finally put faces to names.
-
Thanks for sharing you guys. I'm really glad you could get together. I want ot meet all of you too. I'm so looking forward to the 2009 Symposium so I could meet some forumites.
Steve: A very happy birthday to you. If I knew any Acoustic Neuroma Birthday songs I'd sing one for you, but I don't know any.

Hi everyone,
I haven't been spending as much time as usual on the computer during the holidays. Brian thanks for posting the pics! You all look great and it sounds like you had a fabulous time. I wish New York and Texas weren't so far apart -- I would d to have been there and met all of you! Right now, I'm looking forward to our NY ANers lunch on January 10.
Brenda -- I'm glad to hear your daughter is okay! Happy New Year to all!
