I'm about 2 1/2 months post-op. I don't hear the swishy noise of water in my ear, but at my 1 month post op appoitnment they told me I had fluid in my ear and when it went away my hearing would be about back to what it was before the surgery. Hearing has gotten better, but has a ways to go yet to get to where it was. It also still feels plugged up. So, actually knowing that someone else is still dealing with fluid in their ear makes me feel better...

Yes, it is very possible. Your Dr. can look in there and see it. I had fluid in my "good" ear for about six weeks after my 2nd surgery, my Dr. said it will go away by itself. It was not fun as it left me just about totally deaf. It didn't go away on it's own, so my Dr. extracted it by sticking a needle thru my ear drum (just to numb it), made a cut then sucked it out. Very, very painfull but I had instant hearing in my "good" ear. On 3 to 4 occasions my hearing has gone down just a little for a few hours at a time but then bounces back. I haven't seen my Dr. since this has happened and I want to ask him about it, but I think it is fluid building up and taking it's time draining. Inner ear fluid is drained thru the eustachian tube to the back of your throat when you swallow or yawn.

Hope this helps
