Post by: Captain Deb on September 12, 2008, 06:10:29 pm: I just had an email conversation with John "ole Chumbucket" Bauer, one of the creators of the Talk like a Pirate site and co-autor of the book "Pirattitude." Turns out he has quit his day job and moved from Oregon to the island of St Croix, where my family lived from the mid 60's til 1990. He has decided that in order to pursue the life of a true pirate he needed to live in the Caribbean. You may remember the Bauers from Wife Swap, where the wife had all the super organized family running around dressed like pirates and yelling AAAARRRR. The kids loved their new mom Mad Sally. They have posted pics of their new digs on St Croix on the website--they are still house hunting and staying in a condo at Cane Bay on the North Shore. I hope to meet them someday--maybe I'll get down there this winter!

my AN... I have always thought I would like to be a pirate... now one step closer with the
drunken swagger...

I do have the remains of a mini pirate ship in my back yard ... built as picture back drop for
Cub Day Camp and has sat in my yard with the cats and girls climbing on it and using it as a hide
out ... my husband picked it up with the hay fork and ran it aground in the goat pen...

so I guess next time we set sail we need to have roasted goat with the grog and me and the
girls can have the SS Sea Wolf back

Their Pa built them a smart- lookin tree-house a few weeks ago (really a large playhouse on stilts) and their Captain Nanny Deb painted a large sign on it wiv a huge skull and crossbones on a black background wiv "PIRATES ONLY--ENTER AT YARRRRR OWN RISK!!!!" in big red letters on it. When they learn to read they'll get a kick outta it! Thing 1 is 5 and was born the night before my surgery, and Thing 2 just turned 3. They are my reason to live!

Mine are little princesses and couldn't be any more girly! Since this Grandma is now retired,guess who is the backup babysitter now. They are growing up too fast and can see how your 2 are growing too.

Practice up!!! AAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!! I will me donning me new Swashbuckler Chapeau which was plundered at the Chicago Field Musuem's Real Pirates exhibit. Underneath I shall be a'wearin' me purple jolly roger Hand-Knit Steve-hat watch cap. The Swashbuckler Chapeau is a bit big on me wee lil' noggin' so the watch cap makes it fit just right.

Hope to see you bilge rats online and parlayin' like the swabbies that ye are!!!
