Title: Taylor Update--The Good News
Post by: TaylorsMom on August 12, 2008, 10:37:31 am
Hi everyone,

Despite the post-op infection that developed in her facial muscle graft done in January, she has started to get some movement!!!  She can move the muscle in the cheekbone area.  Movement should gradually progress down to her mouth area and give her a better smile.  She couldn't move anything on that side before except her eyelid.  We are very happy it has worked.  How sucessful it will be is yet to be seen.

Taylor applied to and was accepted to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville for the fall term.  She moves into a dorm room next Friday, Aug 22nd.  The date just happens to be our 27th wedding anniversary.  She is excited and scared at the same time.  The campus is only a 40 minute drive from us so she'll still be close.  We are proud and happy for her being able to start the next chapter of her life.

I remember being excited and scared when I went away to college - that sounds perfectly normal to me.  It turned out to be a good thing. :)

Congratulations on getting accepted, Taylor.

Kathy -

being from Illinois, I know several people who have "kids" at SIU.  In fact, I believe my boss' youngest son will be a sophomore there this year.

I'm sure Taylor will love it SIU and do marvelously.
