Title: Tarsorrhaphy
Post by: Jeanlea on December 10, 2005, 11:32:32 am
My eye doctor keeps talking about doing a tarsorrhaphy, sewing part of the eye shut, on me.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  I already have the gold weight in my eye and keep it lubricated.  What reason would he have for doing this?  What I read on the bells palsey site is that is ususally done as a  last resort.

Thanks,
Jean

Jean: Yes I do know of this being done, in fact a lady that lives down the street from my mother is an A.N. patient and has had this done and says it is helpful. I myself have not felt need to have this done but some of the "plastic repairs" I had done to my face have been helpful for my eye as well (brought the lower lid closer to where it should be).

Jean,

I would check into the eye spring before I would have my eye sewn shut.   Will your paralysis get better?   Was the nerve cut or damaged?

I forgot to mention that I have a gold weight in my eye.  I also started to get some, very limited, facial movement back today.

Jean.

That's great !!!!! It's only been 3 months.   It gives me hope for my mother.
