Frankie, a pug from the East Boston area, was stolen in a home invasion.....
http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/16163463/detail.html
I am guarding Beanie with my life. Look, even Beanie is upset about this news of Frankie!

Phyl,
I am certainly upset to read about Frankie, but perhaps someone should have told him that dogs can BITE!
Unless maybe he was trained as a watch dog and he's now "watching" her tv somewhere else. Then, I'd say he was very well trained.

Very funny comment about the biting, Lori :D
Cute picture, Phyl.

Oh man, How awful. My pug Lucy was my best friend during recovery. She missed me so much while I was gone to HEI that when I returned she wouldn't eat unless I sat by her food bowl. We took a lot of nice slow walks- which you would know, are Pugs' favorite kind.
I hope they find Frankie. (beanie is sure cute!)

Mary/Brenda, have you all read "Clara, the Pug that ruled my World"? :)

(no update on Frankie yet.... will follow news reports in hopes that they find him. It is an issue in these parts of pugs being stolen due to their value).
-
That's frightening. Poor little Frankie, he must be so traumatized. I get so darn mad when I read things like this...
I love the pic of my beautiful niece Beanie :)
Mary - I love your comment "I am owned by a pug". I am also owned, but it's by a lab. He owns the house and car as well. He is my sweetie though, as he also never left my side during my recovery.

there are some real horror stories. We had one the other day when these hoons in a car taumented a young lady walking her 3 small dogs. i think they were pomeranian 9excuse spelling). Anyway, these *(*^&^&*(&*)* sub animals, deliberatley ran over one of the dogs and killed it. This has sparked large public outcry and everyone is "gunning" for their scalps. These mongrels, when caught, face up to 5 years jail.
i certainly hope they catch the idiots.
I wouldn't be without my two pooches. They have the run of the house, they love lying on the couch, oh, they need a cushion first, they ask for the cushions now. they look up at the couch raising their front legs and if a cushion isn't there, they look at us. Talk about spoilt rotten but we don't care. they give 100% unconditional love. they are real comforts to me when the headaches come on full bore, they just lie with you and expect nothing in return. anyone that harms animals or steals them from their home should be castrated or something similar.

well, great news folks... Frankie was turned in to the local police department and reunited with his Pug Parent! Great news!
http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/16164696/detail.html
Thanks for all the wishes for Frankie... as many of us here know how very special our "family" is to us....
...and for the lab, out on the west coast... yes, virtual boyfriend Cosmo, this is for you from your gf, Queenie Beanie the toot queen:
woof-arf-arf! Woof! heh!
As you can see, it's been a very long day for Beanie with worrying about Frankie.... she's ready for sleep. :)

thanks for the update Phyl. Fabulous news ;D What a joyful and tearful reunion that must have been.
I'll tell Cosmo his gf says "Hi". As we know as soon as I mention her name he'll go crazy ;)
Hugs,
Cheryl

HEY COSMO! Where's Beanie? Where is she? Beanie... where's Cosmo?
(we have got to get them a room....) :)

Wait, are you talking about a lab and a pug here?
Very interesting visual LOL - don't censor me, Phyl :o
Jan

geesh! I don't censor everyone!!!!!! gah!!!!!!!!!! ;)

It's like canine-online dating! I've got a golden retriever and a shepherd/collie/misc "hybrid" - they are both single brownish females who like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain..
-
Lori - You crack me up LOL and as tempting as that offer is for my Cosmo, he only has eyes for Princess Beanie. However Cosmo does like Pina colada's, but hates getting caught in the rain....
Cheryl

Ah, another potential money-making venture for Lori - writing canine on-line dating ads!
You're pretty good at this, Lori ;)
And, Phyl, you know I'm just teasing you because I can LOL
Although, I don't recall Joef censoring us much :D

I have a Pick-a-Weinie...we'll give her away...the early bird gets the worm...
We also have a Dascund (I can never spell that word), but she is my sweetie and we'll keep her!

A "pick-a-weinie"? What on earth kind of dog is that?
Jan, i come up with all these ideas, but so far I can't find anyone to pay me for them... Maybe I need to advertise...
Lori
-
Lori -
the ANA might just be looking for some non-dues revenue. Perhaps you should approach them about advertising in "Notes" ;)
I'm guessing a pick-a-weinie is a mix between a Pekinese and a Dachaund (I can't spell that either !) You should know these things if you've going to write canine dating ads!

saw Frankie's "mom" interviewed this am on the news. Turns out that whoever (or is that "whomever"?) took Frankie, turned around and tried to sell him for $100.00! :o The lady that paid the $100, then, contacted police. The good samaritan that she is, had Frankie returned home and even turned down the $1000.00 reward money for Frankie's safe return.
Ya know... I'm so glad there are good doo-bee's still left in the world...
Phyl, Pug Parent....
-
God Bless the good samaritan, wish there were more out there like her.
Pick-a-weinie ??? That's sounds very interesting.
Lori - I can't get that song out of my head - pina colada's and getting caught in the rain...pina colada's and getting caught in the rain....thanks! ;)
Cheryl
-
Sorry Cheryl... want me to sing something else?
100 bottles of beer on the wall, 100 bottles of beer.....
-
I love the Pina Colada song -- Addi has it on her ipod and sings it all the time...I figure I used to sing songs that I had no idea what the lyrics REALLY meant...probably still do!!! ;D

Ok! Someone needs to post a picture of a "pick-a-weinie". I can't even imagine and probably shouldn't even try to imagine.
I bought a backpack to stuff my pug into when I go hiking this summer. She's good for about 3-4 miles in the mountains but then tires out. Most hikers pass us with their big "mountains" dogs and I'm sure I hear the faint sounds of laughter after they pass me and my mountain pug. My vet once said all the pug owners he met were happy people. So do happy people chose pugs or do pugs make happy people?!
Think I'm going to be singing the "pina colada" song at work this afternoon. 100 bottles of beer on the wall does nothing to get rid of pina coladas.
Mary (pugs rule-so do all happy dogs)
-
A mountain pug in a pug-pack... now there's a picture that should be as good as the pick-a-wienie! :D
Lori
-
Actually the Pick-a-Weinie (Latte) is pretty cute, just NOT very mannerly and sometimes attacks "Strudel" - who is DEFINITELY the one that would stay. Latte would make a GREAT one dog family pet...
I had enough trouble just trying to get my picture up here...do you really think I would be able to put another one???

You can't leave us hanging like this!!! Get one of the girls to help you! They're usually better than adults and working these computers anyway!
Lori

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO...do you remember who helped me last time?? It was YOU!!!

Oh.... great... we're in trouble..... ::)

I'll trade you my neurotic, obsessive rat terrier for your pick-a-weenie! Or for pretty much any other dog, or animal, or anything else you'd like to barter..?? ;)

you never told us. Was my speculation correct? Is a pick-a-weinie a mix between a Pekinese and a Dauchaund - or however you spell that word ???
Inquiring minds want to know.

Jan~
YES -- you win the prize! My friend found a weinie dog in her yard one morning when her dog was in heat. They had had their dog for 11 YEARS and never had her "fixed" or any puppies. Can believe that? That's like being what, 77, and having your first baby!!!??? ??? She was a good mama though!
K
-
Actually it was just a lucky guess on my part. But this might be a skill I can use to assist Lori in her on-line doggy dating ads ;)
And no, I can't imagine having my first baby - or any baby for that matter - when I'm 77 !!!
And how do you spell Dauschaund anyway? I'm thinking with the brain issues I sometimes have, we need to ask the ANA about adding spell check to this forum ;D
-
I think it's spelled "WEINER DOG". My sister used to have one and I couldn't even pronounce it, never mind spell it.
So, since Jan won the prize, does she get the dog now?
Jan, watch your mail! It may be barking.
Lori

Lori -
I need a dog like I need a hole in the head!
Oh wait, I already have one of those - or is it two ???
I officially grant you my prize - unless it's something other than a dog, that is ;D
Truthfully, wouldn't your kids just LOVE a dog?
Jan
-
Well, two holes in your head calls for two dogs...
And my 5 year old is already telling me we should get another dog. We already have 2. I keep telling her we don't have enough room, so she wisely suggested we just get a bigger house. Duh, why didn't I think of that?
Lori
-
I just love the logic of 5 year olds; everything is so black & white to them.
It reminds me of when one of my nieces was five. One day when my brother picked her up from day care he said excitedly "Hey, look! It's snowing!!!" She replied, "Well, of course, you know it IS winter".
I like dogs a lot, but they are too high maintenance for me. The cats, while sometimes aloof, are very self-sufficient and the rest of our pets (1 lizard, 1 corn snake, and 3 goldfish) don't require much. Oh course, the pets all belong to my kids, but you know who takes care of them ::)
-
Speaking of pets, our son is now having us babysit his Belgian Malinois. By, us, I mean ME, because I'm the one home all day, mostly. This is an 11 month old puppy who is a high drive shepherd and they are mostly used for police work. My son does Shutzhund training with Diego, and he's a smart dog and learning a lot of things. We go on our long morning walk every day and he is helping me get into shape. He is also ruining our wood floor, eating socks, Kleenex, paper or any fiber or textile that he takes a fancy to, and keeps an eye out for squirrels and birds and cats and strangers. I maybe have mentioned him before. Not having had a pet in a while, this guy is a lot for me to take on, but he's a loving dog, and enjoys forehead kisses and snuggling on the couch. He thinks he's a lap dog. NOT. I thought maybe I'd like to get a dog someday, but this experience may satisfy that urge for awhile. Maybe we'll go back to a cat, which is what my husband wants. He's always liked cats. I just don't want to deal with a litter box again, and I also think that cats should be indoor pets and not roam around the neighorhood. They, as a whole, are helping to decimate the song bird population.
It's getting close to the weekend. Have a good one!

Sue, I guess grand-dogs are like grandchildren - you can get your fix of them, spoil them rotten and the send them home to their parents until the next time you need a fix!
I think that's why my Mom didn't get a dog after we all moved out - she always got to dog sit for one of the grand dogs at one time or another!
Lori
-
Well at least I have SOMETHING to love on. No grandkids, so I'll have to make do with Diego. Hard to make cookies with him, tho! ::)

Maybe you can make dog biscuits with him. He might have a hard time with the cookie cutters though...

:D :D
Good idea! Hadn't thought of making doggie treats! HA

Okay, now I'm thinking maybe instead of an AN book, you should be writing a joke book ;D

My goodness... my to-do list is getting longer and longer by the day...
